I have noticed that my surround sound speakers kind of (how should I say it......quieff, make a quick static noise) every now and then when I am watching T.V. I think it might have something to do with the volume. This does not happen when I am watching dvd's though and my volume is much louder than when I am watching T.V. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and/or tell me how to fix it?
Thanks

Well, the surround on DVD is specifically encoded.
The signal that's feeding into your home from the TV company might be in plain stereo or mono and not surround encoded. In this case, the receiver has to make do and try its best to figure out what the surrounds should sound like if you have it in a surround mode...which can sound unstable at times.
That could be one of the answers. It could be the connection between the TV and receiver...
