So Alexander/Conner is not Lex, but Superboy. Loved the black T-shirt with the red S.

Did anybody else notice that Clark's chest was see-through after Connor missed the candles with his heat vision? How did no one notice that in post?

Yeah I saw that.

I'm glad we're finally getting to Darkseid.

I really dug this episode. For a second there (just before the smoke/mist/whatever that is Darkseid showed up) I thought we were gonna get a surprise Rosenbaum cameo.

I was not aware they were going to make Superboy, nice, enjoyed the episode.

Note - I saw no previews, so the last I new was when Tess could not inject Conner.

On a random side note, I wonder why Lexcorp still has such older tablet PC, an LS800 in 2011 for a major company?

Because the writers were too busy writing crap like last week's episode to care or notice

Liked the ending with Darkseid and Lionel coming face to face.

I didn't realize last week was the last one Allison Mack was contracted for, what a lame way for Chloe to go out if it's the last we see of her.

I think it was meant to be his skin but the cgi work was bad so it looked like the background when he moved around a little.. Odds are it was some sort quickly touch up to add in more burned shirt effect being whatever they did on set did not really show up.. Being there is no way you choose to do $$ cgi work when you could get a better effect with some scissors and a 98cent lighter.

as for the ep... poor Lois gets yet another concussion.. after all, it's not really Smallville unless someone gets knocked out! As for the ep over all, meh not bad..

I'm really enjoying this final season over all being it's the home stretch of a long road trip. I think at this point they could throw anything on the screen and I would still be happy.. sad but true.. lol

I envy you.

For me, there was genuine tension about which way Connor would go. Tess does nothing for me, but I liked the interaction between Clark and Connor, including the fighting. The prospect of having a bad superpowered character was unnerving. Many other moments were meh. But that Darkseid scene at the end of was, "Woah!" Be careful about being wiling to sell your soul because there just might be someone out there willing to take you up on it.

Tired of being a wannabe baddie? Step into my office.

This could get good. I hope they don't let us down.

The whole Tess Lionel confrontation at LutherCorp fell flat to me. "Blah, blah, blah...one fingerprint doesn't match, blah, blah, blah...nano something or other in your stomach." "Ok I'll just leave now..."

Happy with more Tess screen time though.

I wonder if this could be considered a back-door pilot for the future exploits of Superboy on the CW.

This episode harkened back to the more classic episodes of Smallville in the middle of its run. Too bad Lois suffered her 156th concussion in this episode, though.

She passed up Lex a few episodes ago and is now the leader in times knocked unconscious.

Re: Smallville -- "Scion" -- 3/04/11

Have watched most of the last ten years and this is the first time I've seen Clark laughing or genuinely happy. I've seen him smile infrequently, but most of the time they are trying to "protect" one another.

Tess is actually growing on me a bit. I used to really hate the character, but not so much now.

Well he was with Lana before, he really couldn't be happy then and afterwards he was having his hands so full that he didn't have time to be happy.

Re: Smallville -- "Scion" -- 3/04/11

Liked this episode alot. Glad they brought back Darkseid. The confrontation by Tess and fake Lionel lacked some emotional punch, but I still found it cool how she turned the tables on him with the backwards fingerprint.

Interesting way to introduce Superboy. Now I'm curious to see how they bring back the real Lex for Rosenbaum's appearance in the finale.

You know I've always found Cassidy Freeman attractive since Tess was introduced, but man for some reason I've found her especially hot this season. Her hair looks great, she dresses really nice and smiles alot more. I've enjoyed the Tess character alot more this season than in the past.

at another Lois concussion.

Maybe it was just my station, but they showed a preview of the episode during the episode itself. It's nothing I wouldn't have seen if I were a regular CW watcher, but it was disorienting and spoilerish to see happy Connor during the episode then see a preview of threatening Connor.

Re: Smallville -- "Scion" -- 3/04/11

So I totally didn't see that Superboy storyline coming. I'm glad it went that way, especially since they were playing up so much of the evil Lex DNA angle. What did bug me though was that Clark had just come to the realization he needs a secret identitity. Then out of nowhere since he's worried about this mini-"Lex" getting his memories back he just walks in with no glasses? Talk about giving reason to jog his memory!

I'm also glad they brought back Darkseid and tied it into the main Luthor storyline.

Also, this late in the game how does Clark still let people talk him into thinking something different? You could see Clark's mind changing as Lionel was talking to him in his office.

Only a few odd left to go and a break until middle of April!

Re: Smallville -- "Scion" -- 3/04/11

I thought this episode was fine, but just drove home how awful the Smallville writers are at coming up with "alternatives" to established names.

For example, the "Blur" is a million times better than "the Red-Blue Blur" but it still sounds completely stupid every time someone says it with a straight face.

Coming in a close second is "the Darkness," which also sounds dumb. Until they really know what it is, I don't think they'd give it a specific name. I think they'd speak more generically, or use different words (like "evil"). It's like the whole group agrees they're going to say "the darkness" and then they never say anything differently.

Might seem like a minor issue but it drags me out every single time they do it. It automatically makes me think "someone wrote that in the script" as opposed to something someone would actually say.

I do appreciate they are going with Darkseid. I'm not a big fan of the comics but I do know most of the main DC characters and the Darkseid story always struck me as more of an "alien invasion" tale than a "formless dark spirit that infects people" but we'll see if they can make it suitably epic for the finale.
