Really? SRII was one of my favorite games of all time. It's GTA less the crappy controls and without taking itself too seriously.

Come on now, Have you even played The Ballad of Gay Tony? It easily trumps SR2.

SR2 was a ton of fun though although it got old quick - thanks for posting this though....word is that the graphics are suppose to be on par with GTA IV's but I have no idea what's new with the game play.

I am with Rob on this one....Sr2 was only behind Fallout 3 for my game of the year in 2008...Like Just Cause 2, you could pick at its flaws but in the end you have a blast playing it....

In fairness, no I didn't play it... but that's because GTA IV didn't hold my attention long enough. Saints Row never had the best graphics but the missions were a ton of fun to me.

Here's to hoping that SR3 employs the same technique as The Saboteur and allows for mission progress to be saved in case you die. I loved the fact that if I blew up 15/20 targets and then died, I could continue with full ammo and health and with 15/20 targets already destroyed! I don't have the gaming time or patience to redo missions over and over anymore.

I couldn't get into SR2, but I wanted to like it. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I still think SR2 has the best implemented character creation I've seen in a game. I played through as an overweight, effeminate, black British badass and, the entire time, I always felt like he was a character the developers came up with and built the game around. The whole thing felt like an early Guy Ritchie movie to me. I'll buy the third one just based on how much I enjoyed that experience.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I spent more hours than I care to divulge flying around in a plane and belting out "Sister Christian" than I did actually completing missions in SR2 so as long as they keep the sandbox that open I'm in for sure.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I do hope that this time they implement a bit of difference if you create a male or female character. Some of the cut scenes were a bit odd when a female character was used.

Game Informer Article

It will be the cover story and have a lot of exclusive information inside. Judging from the first picture... skydiving and firing guns at the same time

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Absolutely loved SR2, and I agree that it trounced GTA4. I did not play the Ballad of Gay Tony, but my problem with GTA was the controls were shit.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I had read a lot of great things about SR2 over the months and decided to pick it up this weekend. Wow. What a terrible game. I don't know if people are just having fond memories, but this game looks old and really dated now. The graphics are crappy, the game is really GTA-lite. It will be lucky if i play through this game to the end. Just a huge disappointment.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

To each his own. I don't think anybody raved about the graphics but the gameplay rocks IMO... and it is over 2 years old now.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

I think GTA's city looks better, but I thought the character animations were always awkward.

Saint's Row 2 was about the gameplay for me which I found much more fun than GTA4.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Prefer GTA IV to SRII simply because it is much more realistic. I know some people here hate the controls, but I thought they were amazing. Car handling especially. Every vehicle felt unique. Much better than the Crazy Taxi controls in SCII IMO.

That said, SRII had a lot of cool gameplay elements. I wish GTA IV had half the minigames and customization of SRII. Maybe SRIII will up the realism and keep the fun.

I actually never completed SRII though. Only ever rented it. Gotta be $20 now, right? Maybe I'll pick it up after work today.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

The one thing I appreciated about SRII, and REALLY disliked about GTAIV, was the lack of "on-rails" gameplay experiences. I could do the mission how I damn well pleased for the most part.

I hated that you were forced to wait on killing a guy during a mission because they wanted you to make some "awesome" jump.

Re: Saints Row: The Third

Hopefully the driving controls are better. I liked SR2, but thought GTA4 had more realistic driving controls.
