Re: How I Met Your Mother -- "A Change Of Heart" -- 02/28/11
After what was probably the worst episode of the season last week, tonight's episode definitely delivered and continued this season's brilliance.
I thought Robin's boyfriend acting like a dog was sort of dumb (the visuals of his head out hanging out the window, looking at the jukebox, etc.), but I did love all of the puns throughout the episode.
Nora: "I've been trying to not stare at your chest all night."
Barney: "Yeah, what's that like?"
I loved the way they had everyone hitting Barney after he did or said something this episode. The editing for those scenes was great and kept it fast-paced and funny.
Barney having dirt on everyone was great as well and is something I could see them coming back to in future episodes. The flashback of Marshall dropping the calzone and Barney watching him was hilarious.
Nice callback referring to marijuana as sandwiches. That's been a good running gag, and I loved Marshall's, "Sandwiches make me hungry" line. As well as Ted saying, "Dude, you have nothing to be ashamed of. That calzone sounds amazing."
Can't believe the ending with Barney. They definitely got me there, and it was hard to watch him walk away. This season especially, the show has done a great job of mixing in some pathos with the comedy; while Marshall dealing with his dad is the most obvious example, Barney finding out the truth about his father and now his situation with Nora are other great examples.

I actually thought all of the dog jokes were hysterical! Scooby chasing himself looking for the tag actually had me .

I thought this was yet another in the string of strong episodes this season. Lots of either callbacks or possible setups for the future. Barney-centric episode=good episode! They've done overkill before, but all the dog jokes at the bar were great!
Anyone know the song title(artist) playing at the end?

I think this whole Nora storyline would be so much better if Barney didn't already go through it all with Robin. Either way, good episode and I really like Nora and I hope she sticks around. I was half expecting at the end of the episode for future Ted to reveal that Barney ended up marrying Nora, then Barney walked away. They'll find a way to bring her back though, I'm sure.

I think Barney and Robin's relationship was different than the potential Barney and Nora relationship. Despite what they may have said at times, I don't think Barney or Robin ever took it seriously or imagined it being long-term. Neither is a relationship person; one focuses on career and the other focuses on one-night stands. Nora was a real chance for Barney to settle down once and for all. And it seems he felt more for Nora than he ever did for Robin.

The show was not only renewed for another season (earlier than usual) but CBS renewed it for 2 years at a series high rate of $3.3m/episode.
Not bad.

^I hope they find a way to get Marshall 2 more slaps so we can have one each for the remaining seasons.
Anyway this is great news. This season has been a return to form after a lackluster season 4 and 5. Hopefully they can keep that going into season 7 and 8.
I wonder how the wedding at the end of this season will play out now.

Happy to hear about the show's renewal, this ep was quite good, enjoyed Barney being something else than the "Old" Barney for once, the dog part was nice too
