BBC Documentary "Madagascar" narrated by David Attenborough--6/7/2011
From blu-ray.com:
"BBC Video, in conjunction with Warner Home Video, has announced Madagascar for Blu-ray release on June 7. This nature documentary, narrated by Sir David Attenborough (not to be mistaken with the animated movies) profiles the variety of different species that live on the island of Madagascar.
"Because of its distance away from the African continent, Madagascar remained undiscovered for many years and its isolation from man has allowed it to become a hot bed of evolution. This series examines the various different animals and plants that are indigenous to Madagascar and the reason which set it apart from anywhere else on the planet."

They had some segments in Planet Earth and Life that were shot in Madagascar. Is this material taken from those shows and re-edited, is it material shot for those but not shown until now, or is it all new material?

It's a new three-part series that just finished airing in the UK. Not sure if it's built from archival material or not, but it's a new series.
There's also a supplemental episode on the extinct "elephant bird" of Madagascar airing next week on BBC; don't know if that will be included on the home video version or not.

Pre-order for this is up. The cover art indicates two discs, which seems excessive for a series less than three hours long.
The UK version will include the bonus program called "Attenborough and the Giant Egg." Perhaps that is the second disc although unless it's long it should fit on a BD with the main programs.
