Adele - 21 (2-22-11)

So, Adele's new album was released in the US today. Is anyone else a fan of hers? I loved her first album, and this one doesn't disappoint so far.

This is probably my favorite track on the album as of now:

I really enjoyed her first album particularly for chasing pavements, cold shoulder, and the Bob Dylan cover. Have the album on mp3.

However, I don't care for "Rolling..." I thought "Someone Like You" would be a cover of Van Morrison's song of the same name. I'll have to listen to it more. Are there any uplifting tracks on the album? Both of these tracks are brooding.

I love Adele. She's such a powerful soulful singer.

The first two songs are really good, sort of having a faster pace. The remaining songs, I thought, were slower paced. I did catch her on Letterman the other night and she did Rolling In the Deep. What I thought was interesting was Letterman promoted her new album, and held the vinyl. Is that a new thing? I thought the hosts always held the cd version.

She was on Today Show last Friday.

Excellent album. She's awesome live and I am pissed that I missed out on tickets for her shows in Atlanta and Asheville. Grrr.

From the album, though, my favorite track is Don't You Remember. I find Someone Like You good but after listening to that live version the studio version pales in comparison.

Her latest is not near as good as her debut. Maybe after a few listens it will grow on me but for now I'm not feeling it, whereas her debut had an instant effect on me.

I feel the opposite. This one is instantly "enjoyable" with many tracks that could easily be hit singles. 19 was good but not nearly as accessible, IMO.

I've noticed that a lot lately with the vinyl.

I think it's because the larger artwork comes through better on TV.

Can't wait for this album. I really liked 19.

You are correct, sir. You wouldn't even be able to tell what it is if Letterman held up a CD.

Re: Adele - 21 (2-22-11)

I'm surprised by any hate towards Rolling In The Deep. I'm not into this type of music (neo-60s soul?) at all, but that song has skyrocketed to the best song of the year so far. Everything about it is near perfect. It's as though it could have been written fifty years ago, or fifty years from now. Just insanely good. Beautiful video too.

Re: Adele - 21 (2-22-11)

I had no knowledge of Adele until I heard "Rumor Has It" playing while browsing Borders today. I Shazam'd it and have been listening to any tracks I can find. New favorite artist, and will probably buy my first CD in nearly 5 years.

Re: Adele - 21 (2-22-11)

I didn't even realize until after I bought the album that three of the tracks - “Someone Like You”, “Don’t You Remember” & “One and Only” - we co-written by Dan Wilson (formerly of Semisonic & Trip Shakespeare). He also produced “Someone Like You”, too. Ironically, I had been on a bit of listening kick for his old bands right about the time this album came out. I liked here previous album, but now it's no wonder I was enjoying this one so much.
