TVguide is reporting that Lesley-Ann Brandt (Naevia) has declined to renew her contract and is leaving, the role will be recast.

Outside of Mira, she was my favorite piece of eye candy on the show

Maybe she's sick of wearing next to nothing on every episodes. No loss imo since I bet the recast is another eye candy.

Melitta is cuter. Can't believe this is almost over.

Awesome episode with an even more awesome last 10 min.

Melitta and Gannicus got off easy though. Luckily they didn't have to experience the wrath of Doctore.

I'm enjoying this prequel series more than the regular series. Great episode!

Well, the guy was old. Death by a more subtle poison would probably be assumed to be old age. The plan wasn't just to kill him ... it was to frame Tullius for the murder (forcing her husband to go balls-out for revenge, which would elevate the house).

Plus, when this show has the option of doing something in a subtle way or an over-the-top way ... which way does it choose?

Fuck Ashur, what a worthless little dick. That scene with Dagan's eye was brutal.

That almost read like you said you're glad the star of Season 1 got cancer.

Agreed. I think the prequel is unbelievable, but I'd rather Andy have not gotten cancer and we'd have gotten Season 2 with him in place. Desmond's comment is in poor taste, IMHO.

Well, presumably he'll be getting his some time in the next episode. I'm glad he's one of the few "villains" to make it out of last year's season finale alive.

As for the prequel series as a whole, it's been entertaining and obviously better than nothing, but count me among the crowd who would much rather be watching a 12 episode season 2 right now.

Since we were stuck with this in it's stead, I almost wish they had broadened it a bit and shown what was going on with Glauber and Ilithia during this time. I would have been fine with another episode or two, and it would have been nice to have Viva Bianca somewhere in this. Six episodes is just not enough.

This prequel has been great. I can't wait for the finale. I don't think it can be as good as the finale of season 1 though.

Re: Spartacus: Gods of the Arena -- "Reckoning" -- 2/18/11

Maybe it's just me, but I'm enjoying the intrigue and drama that happens in the house of Batiatus. Whether it's the training in the ludus or the actual fights in the arena, I'm worried that once season 2 starts, and Spartacus and his "merry" band are on the run, the show won't be as interesting. At the same time, I don't think they could have dragged out the story any longer either without the audience getting tired of the "same old" for more than one season.

I just don't see how Spartacus running around with his army pillaging villages and fighting roman legions will be as interesting as the events in the ludus.
