Looking to get DD sound in my small living room...
Should I get the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 (as you all konw has a built-in DD decoder) for about $185 or spend a bit more for a separate receiver and a 5.1 speaker package....Really don't want to spend more than $400...
Any input would be appreciated.....

For something similar to the DTT2500 (but better and slightly costlier), Midiland 8200 comes to mind. It is a 5.1 setup with a DD decoder as well. As far as sound goes, I believe this particular setup will outperform the DTT2500. I'm sure there are other alternatives as well. By the way, Cnet Shopper has the Midiland 8200 for $285.

I have a DTT2500 setup at home and it works great! easy to use and setup. Sounds excellent. The only thing is, it is only about 25 Watts per channel and so the sub seems to max out more frequently than i wish. If you're not looking for super power sub output, got for it b/c it is quite cheap. Otherwise..go elsewhere

actually, since the DTT2500 has a seperate preamp output for a sub you could simply connect a powered sub to it and use that. I plan on doing that some time down the road(prolly an 8" powered woofer). The sub is comes with isn't bad it's just not great. I really like the system as a whole though.

Creative Labs has also announced a replacement for the DTT2500, so you may want to wait a bit...
Nothing on their website, but I know there's a DTT3100 coming out, which'll have a remote and stuff.
