Private Messaging?

Re: Private Messaging?
There is a threshold number of posts you need to have to be able to PM. That is due to spammers signing up and blasting PMs to our members.
It's not advisable to make useless, nonsense posts to get to that threshold. PMs are intended for use by members of the community. I'm sorry that you are affected by this limitation but I don't think it can be determined by length of membership as opposed to number of posts. I'll ask about that though, it seems to make more sense to look at how long one has been a member of the forum.

Re: Private Messaging?
This thread is about how our spam(mer) prevention policies can unintentionally impact on innocent members.
What X's post says is that maybe the jump from zero to the standard allocation of PMs could be implemented by reference to one's length of membership rather than to how many posts one has made because experience suggests that spammers tend to be short-term rather being willing to sit quietly and wait.
It was not intended to (nor did it, IMNSHO) indicate a suggestion that DVDtalk.com members at large might receive incrementally increased PM allocations as their length of membership increased.
(I believe that for those interested in increased PM allocation there is the option of Premium Membership).
