Re: Face Off - special F/X reality competition on SyFy
I saw the pilot last week. Didn't like it as much as I thought I would and eventually turned it off before they showed who was eliminated. Something about it annoyed me. After thinking about it, I think it was trying to be more "serious" than it actually is. I can accept the tension with Survivor, Amazing Race, etc. but definitely not a second rate reality show from Syfy.
Didn't see the second episode, so I'm not sure if it got better or not.

Saw it and really enjoyed it. It's Project Runway for geeks.

I saw this on the listings and assumed it was the movie. My wife and I spent about 10 minutes making "I'm going to take his face... off" jokes.

This is now my new favorite show on TV. Last week's episode was great, lots of good FX work on display. It's obvious who the finalists will be, but watching everyone work is awesome. As a huge horror FX fan, I can't think of a better concept for a reality show than this.

Wife and I love the show. Some of the creativity is incredible. Our favorite show so far was the one with the body painting.

I don't think anyone nailed last night's challenge, and I thought it sounded like the most fun yet. Hilarious they have Sean Cunningham as a guest judge when you consider that he never liked the Jason character and only enjoys the fact he lines his pockets.

Everyone give up on this show?
This week was decent - not too impressed with any of the gender swap makeups, but Tom's was unintentionally hilarious & creepy all at once.
I love that Jo got all pissy, then Melissa ends up winning and Jo gets booted. Hopefully that'll end any of the lame drama the show doesn't need.

I've actually been enjoying this show more than I thought I would. Although, it seemes to me that the judges has their heads up their asses when it comes to whom to eliminate.
I guess they aren't shown the backstage or actual work the contestants do like the audience has been. That has been the most annoying part of the show for me.

My wife and I really like the show. Neither of us very happy about who left/stayed last night, seemed they picked the wrong one to go home.

This is obviously going to come down to a battle between Conor and Tate.

I just watched the pilot ep. I really like the subject and the end products but I just can't stand the "reality show"-ness of it all: The conflicts and drama between contestants, having them stay in a loft, the overdramatic judge segments and the whole thing is scored with the subtlety of a Looney Tunes short. They are obviously sticking closely to the Top whatever format, but I wish the show borrow a little from those one off cake/candy/etc competitions on FoodTV where they focus on the artistry and the process of each creation.

Well, it was plainly obvious who was going home last night before they even got to eliminations. I loved how Glenn said they didn't even need time to debate, then gave Megan's lazy ass the axe.
I can't believe that next week is the finale with 4 people still left. This show needs at least 3 more episodes. I really hope it gets a S2.

Well, no surprise there on Conor winning. I think he was the safe choice, though. Gage was willing to try going outside the box more, but Conor was technically better than everyone. Loved how they have 4 finalists but still eliminated Sarah before making a decision. It's a subtle way of saying "you didn't even come close to matching what these guys did".
Edit: Glad to see this is getting a second season. I hope they expand the run next time.

I enjoyed this series and I was happy to hear them say they are taking applications for a second season. I would like them to take it further next season with the challenges, like perhaps have them hook up with a writer and director and make a 3 minute movie featuring a monster they create. Since its on SyFy, why not have a challenge where the prize is to have their creation appear as the 'star' of its own SyFy Original Movie? Or how about a classic monster movie challenge where the artists are forced to use only makeup technologies that were available in the classic 30s/40s monster movies?

Started watching this today. Great stuff. As KillerCannibal mentioned, as a Horror fan, just the idea of the show is exciting.
It's interesting even in this pilot episode that not everyone on the show is getting face time. Hell, there were points in this episode that I was wondering who certain people were. Gives me the feeling that they are just fodder to being cut soon.

One of the better competitive reality shows for sure.
Glad there is a season 2. They could have had a few more episodes
The sculpting looks bloody hard

Was looking up some of the work of the Top 3 Artists from Season 1 with some interesting finds!
Gage the Special/Make-Up Effects Creator/Designer for Puppet Master: Axis Of Evil
Tate is part of the Make-Up/Effects Crew for The Amazing Spider-Man (2012)
