God damn. Was at my buddies house today and he has netflix on xbox. We streamed these eps and I was floored! Just all out better than S1 start and my buddy loved the show too. He couldnt believe how engrossed he was.
Asher was bad ass and really does look younger. Im digging the new dude (Glabius?) and really hope they figure out a way to write him out and bring him back in season 2. Im guessing that guy ends up buying him or Batiatus has to sell.

I was skeptical about this season but I agree. So far its been better in nearly every aspect than last season. I even think the fight choreography is better. The battle between Crixus and Gannicus may have been the best fight of the series so far. The CGI bullshit was kept to a minimum, just straight up ass kicking.

Of course everyone gets different things out of the show, but I thought it was heart wrenching to force a slave to have sex with his friend's wife. Still, it has to be looked at in context. To even have a wife as a slave is somewhat lenient, but as we saw, "slave" is a title that supersedes all others -- including "wife".
I realized with this last episode I'm a bit enamored with the way the characters speak in this show. Of course it's not accurate (for instance, they wouldn't be speaking English), but the cadence and phrasing leaves the feeling of watching something historical.
Even though I'm not into the cartoonish bloodletting, I do enjoy the battle scenes. But mostly, I enjoy the drama of everything. This mini is a welcome companion to Season 1 of Spartacus: Blood & Sand. I've always been a fan of BBC-style short seasons, and this is no exception.

Yes it is. It probably helps only having to make 6 episodes instead of 13 so they can just dive right in.
I love how 2 episodes in and we are all ready seeing the deterioration of the relationships. They are doing a nice job of filling in the back story so you we now know things like why Crixus and Oenomaus have such little respect for Ashur and why Batiatus and Solonius hate each other.

I was shocked at this week's piss scene. They really pull no punches with the nudity. Next week are we going to see a money shot?

My buddy and I always cracked up at the little disclaimer they play before the show, you know because in Ancient Rome people would just full on be doing it in the crowd at gladiator fights
Been really enjoying the first couple of episodes of this one, already like it a lot more then the fist one.

I'm getting to like Asher even more now.
We know from the first series that he's a manipulative little weasel. It looks like he became one in order to survive in the ludus.
Interesting that he didn't earn the mark of a gladiator ...

Hey, I guess prequels don't have to suck after all!
And, speaking of prequels and sucking, while watching the episode I realized that Doctore was played by Temuera "Jango Fett" Morrison. The first episode, it was driving me crazy because I knew that I recognized him from somewhere, but couldn't quite place him.

I saw that too, I'm guessing there aren't many "Jed Whedons" in Hollywood.
I was trying to place him as well, thanks for clearing that up.

Damn I knew the dude looked familiar and I thought Jango since hes from New Z but I thought, nahhh too old.
Glad to see Im not alone in thinking the season is off to a great start. I saw Ep 1 again of S1 and holy shit the difference is night and day. Not only in visuals but in writing. I almost dont want a s2, I want them to continue the prequel story.
Im digging Asher in here and I LOVE the shot of him stabbing the shit out of the dude in the ally. I look forward to the eps written by Knauf and directed by Hurst
