your TOP 5 "Weird Al Yankovic" ORIGINAL songs

I've been a fan of his since "In 3-D," when I was just a mere lad of 14.

My Top 5 favorite "original" songs:

01: Midnight Star (from "In 3-D")
02: Such A Groovy Guy (from self-titled album)
03: This Is The Life (from "Dare To Be Stupid")
04: Buy Me A Condo (from "In 3-D")
05: I'll Be Mellow When I'm Dead (from self-titled album)

Re: your TOP 5 "Weird Al Yankovic" ORIGINAL songs

This is the Life
Dare to be Stupid

I Lost on Jeopardy??? (Don't know if that's an original or not)

That's about all I can remember from my childhood. The first two songs I listed still hold up for me.

"Buy Me A Condo" I remember because one of the neighborhood kids claimed that he actually wrote the song and Weird Al stole it from him. I don't recall it being that good of a song though.

Re: your TOP 5 "Weird Al Yankovic" ORIGINAL songs

Kinda hard to remember what was original or not as his version have taken dominance in my mind over everything he has parodied.

So Maybe:

I Remember Larry
Nature Trail To Hell
Albuquerque
Everything You Know Is Wrong
Good Old Days

Also I do listen to his birthday song once every year.

No, it's a parody of "Jeopardy" by The Greg Kihn Band.

No love for One More Minute? Definitely my favorite of his original songs.

Re: your TOP 5 "Weird Al Yankovic" ORIGINAL songs

A friend and I were just talking about this yesterday - odd.

"One More Minute" was our winner, by the way, but I'd probably choose:

"Dare To Be Stupid"
"Mr. Frump In The Iron Lung"
"Mr. Popeil"
"Nature Trail To Hell"

in no particular order to round out the Top 5.

His first three albums are perfection and were a cornerstone to my childhood. It's also amazing how well they hold up today, some of the parodies even better than the songs the parodied.

Is 'The Night Santa Went Crazy' a parody of something? I love that song.

"One More Minute" was the first song that came to mind when I read the thread title but I still find myself humming "Mr. Frump In The Iron Lung" randomly even 30 years later. Ugh...30 years!

Albequerque was the encore during the 07-08 tour. Not to rub it in, but it was a treat.

Most of my picks have already been said in various posts, but I will say this:

"Albuquerque" is quite possibly the greatest song ever made.

Re: your TOP 5 "Weird Al Yankovic" ORIGINAL songs

Very hard to pick just 5. I don't think I'd be able to do it. Off of his last album, "Close But No Cigar" and "Don't Download This Song" are both great.

I know he hates them, but I am somewhat surprised his label never attempted a "love songs" compilation, since almost all of his love songs are very funny. "One More Minute", "You Don't Love Me Anymore", "Since You've Been Gone", etc.

Damn! I'd have loved to see that. (I'd trade in both of the times I saw him for that one concert. Though, I'm wondering why I didn't go/know he was around here that year.)

It was one of the songs for the tour last year as well. Great song.

One of my favorite originals is Hardware Store.

This is probably my favorite song of all-time, or at least, since I first heard it at 9 or 10 years old.
