So apparently Lewis Black was originally supposed to play Harry? Glad they recast Kathy Bates. No way the show would have been as enjoyable with Black as the lead; I know I'd have likely turned it off after 15 minutes.
I hope they continue to feature Damien in the show, he's hilarious.

It's still heavily politically left but enjoyable no less. Kind of nice having a show like this back on the air again.

Yeah, I'm glad they toned McCrane's character down this time around. I don't mind if he's recurring if they have him more like he was tonight and less like he was last week.

Both last week and this week I preferred Adam's story to Harry's. I feel like that portion of the episode doesn't take itself too seriously and I find that it isn't nearly as preachy as what's going on with Harry.
At least last week Harry's verdict seemed appropriate given what had happened, but this week, I dunno. I get what happened and why she was defending it, but the whole time I just kept wondering..."What has changed with this lady that if she is found not guilty she won't have to resort to armed robbery again?"
But whatever, I don't expect to watch a David E. Kelley show and not get hit over the head with conservative bashing.
Oh, and Brittany Snow is being way too underutilized.

Boy, was Christopher MacDonald channeling Shatner or what? Seems like he watched a boatload of Boston Legal episodes before filming this.
Kind of odd seeing Jordana Spiro as a brunette after her 4 year run on My Boys.

Harry beat a new 5-0 last week and a new Castle this week to win it's timeslot each time. Looks like DEK was worried for no reason when it comes to the ratings.

It has strong overall viewers but isn't really setting the world ablaze in 18 - 49 which is seemingly all they care about.
Still, it's NBCs highest rated show overall at this point, and it's 18 - 49 (a 2.1) is better than Chuck or The Cape.

As long as it stays above 2.0 it should be safe.

Enjoyed week 2, however both cases were absurd, but I wouldn't expect anything less from DEK.
The Chinese laundromat storyline with Adam was a ridiculous case. But, at least it didn't take itself too seriously. I loved Chris McDonald Tommy Jefferson character and I hope he recurs on the show. Since the case is going to the Ohio Supreme Court, at least he should be in next week's episode. The best part was seeing the slide show in his office and that it was fully prepared for press conference. Plus, realistically would any white woman in the United States work in a Chinese laundromat?
Harry's case with the 87 year old getting acquitted of armed robbery got a little too preachy. I did like how DEK was taking shots at Wall Street and the Governmant bailing out the banks. No matter how old or poor she is, it didn't justify her taking a loaded weapon into a store and commiting robbery.
Since Harry is literally getting paid nickels and dimes for her work, I guess the shoe store side business makes sense so she can pay her rent.
And yeah Brittany Snow is way underutlized.

Considering she was making $600k a year, presumably for years, I don't think she even needs that to pay her rent

I liked the new term they introduced at the beginning:
"Parapalegal"

Hell she said from the get go "I can't pay you." wonder how long that'll last. Plus do they intend on keeping the Shoestore going once the supply included with the place is gone?

Shooter McGavin was awesome.
And I'm stunned, beyond stunned - two weeks in a row and DEK takes the libertarian (not to mention textualist constitutional) approach to a case.

Maybe she'll go the route of Lucy on The Practice or maybe even Rebecca and go to law school at night, pass the bar and become an associate!

Very few shows make us burst out laughing throughout, but this show does. That's enough to keep us watching every week.
