** FYI: If you don't currently subscribe to Starz, but have Netflix, this will be posted on Netflix Instant Watch on Saturday **
I'm looking forward to this. I loved season 1 of Spartacus and hopefully this will be a good filler, although short one.

With this and Fringe -- Friday is shaping up to be pretty solid
Also, I decided to renew Starz today. I want them to continue pursuing original programming (figured I should do my part).

I just finished season 1 last night and I was floored by it. Fucking amazing with a great season finale. It jumped to my favorite current show and top 5 of all time (still not ahead of ROme). I REALLY want to see this. Hopefully with just 6 eps itll be on Blu in 12 weeks

As much as I like John Hannah as Batiatus, I wish this was continuing from season one and not a prequel. Damn cancer!

Season 2 is probably going to begin shooting in the next few months now that Liam McIntyre has been cast as Spartacus. But, it's not going to premiere any earlier than January 2012.

Fucking great first episode for the prequel.
I love that Celt gladiator. Bad ass with the sword, but likes to have a good time as well.
Lucretia's new friend is so damn hot!
Violence, sex and drugs! What more do you need from a show???

By Jupiter's cock, it's good to have a Spartacus show back (even if it's just a prequel, and not the follow-up we're really waiting for). Good show. It assumes the audience watched "Blood and Sand", so it's able to get right into the meat of the story. And if anyone hasn't seen "Blood and Sand" ... be warned, this spoils the ending in the first couple of minutes, so I highly recommend you track down the first series before watching this. If there's a weakness, it's probably a general one inherent in prequels. We see many familiar characters, and know where they'll end up - that takes a lot of the suspense away. And (not knowing any spoilers for this show) I'm guessing most of the unfamiliar characters will end up dead.
"Gods of the Arena" has already given me a good comeback line to try out in real life: "Words fall from your mouth as shit from ass!"
Looking at the imdb cast listings, I noticed something that I hope is wrong.

For people that are familiar with WWE, does Gannicus remind anyone else of Drew McIntyre. Especially when he does a cocky smirk, looked like the guy's twin to me.

I watched about 15 mins before I went to work today and the opening sequence recaps what happened in the season finale (including the deaths of 2 major characters.) You need to watch Blood and Sand 1st before you hit the prequel.

Not only did she play Lila on Dexter, but I first saw her on the BBC series "Hustle" (my favorite BBC series). I'm glad to see her again.

I thought it was decent.
It was funny seeing some of the characters interacting like they did with Batiatus and Solonius being buddies and Ashur beating up Crixus in the practice.

GREAT start!
I love the Batiatus character. I didn't remember Crixus being short in stature. I am looking forwards to the rest of the series.
