Question for anyone who owns The Universe Season 1...
Is it supposed to come with any inserts/booklet?
I ordered it from amazon and they sent me an OPENED copy! I can't friggin believe this! Has this ever happened to anyone else?
The discs are fine, but I'm not keeping it if it's supposed to come with inserts or a booklet.

Really? you'd return it if it was missing a booklet but all the discs are there? I should have mine today, so I don't know if there is one or not. But at $8.75 from Amazon, I'll take it, booklet or not.

That's one way of looking at it. However, I'm still very surprised that amazon is selling opened items as new. When yours arrives, could you please let me know if it has an insert?

In the past year I have noticed much more damage to new items coming from Amazon. I think their shipping and fulfillment systems are now valuing speed over delivering a product in perfect condition.
You can be at ease about season 1 of The Universe. My copy, bought new from Amazon when the set was first released, has no booklet. The only items inside the case are three Blu-rays.

^ Yeah, History's BD releases (that I've noticed) don't normally come with booklets.

Okay, thanks for the input! I'm still quite surprised that they sent something without shrinkwrap. What if I was going to give it as a gift? The whole thing seems so strange.

Why shrinkwrap, add security stickers, or glue shoplifter traps to items that go directly from the manufacturer to Amazon to us?

Well, it appears that Amazon is selling used merchandise as new. I don't like the stickers and crap either, but they should be closed sealed packages if they are being sold as new.

Just got my copy. Opened with no booklet. Case does seem worn with some scratches towards the bottom. Definitely looks like a used copy.

mine arrived with no shrinkwrap but the case, sleeve and discs were just fine so i'm not complaining.

I hope we get some answers. I already own this, but if this is going to become common practice, for Amazon to seemingly sell used product they think may look 'good enough' to sell as new, as in fact, 'new', then forget me getting a Prime membership...

They likely just bought it from a wholesaler and some came sealed and some didn't. It's an extreme exception.

I don't see the problem. Like Gizmo said, they probably bought them wholesale and that's how they came.
It's new, but not shrink wrapped.
In Europe, at least when I was in London and Dublin in 2004, barely anything in the DVD/CD stores was shrink wrapped. I don't understand why Americans have such a fetish for clear plastic.
