Synopsis:

Spoiler:
The Season Two opener, "Red Rain," continues the action from last season's finale when Anna unleashed Red Sky on the planet. With the world on the brink of war and chaos all around, is there anyone who can stand up to Anna? Meanwhile, Ryan has been kept in isolation on the mothership, away from his hybrid baby so that Anna can experiment on her; Chad, seeking redemption for being used by Anna, now wants to fight with the Fifth Column; and Erica goes on a journey to find a scientist who can give her the answers to what Red Sky is, and where she learns the horrifying secret of what the V's are doing on our planet. Jane Badler (original "V" series) and Bret Harrison ("Reaper") join the series in recurring roles.

Written by Scott Rosenbaum & Gregg Hurwitz
Directed by Bryan Spicer.

10 episode 2nd season.

The entire season wrapped production last month.

Since "V" has been off the air for awhile as well, I also thought I would start this a day early to give some of you some advance notice.

Here's a recap of season 1 if anyone here hasn't seen it and wants to jump in:

Some early reviews of season 2 have been mixed -- I'll be tuning in though.

Cool story about Jane Badler's role on the show as the new "Diana" There is a cool picture with her and Morena.

Once again, here's a key quote from the story about "Diana"

In the rebooted series, Badler's character, the mother of Morena Baccarin's Anna, is named Diana, but it's more of an homage to Badler's original character than a reprisal of the role. In fact, "V" producer Steve Pearlman considered other actresses for the role, and Badler did have to audition.

Marc Singer (the original Mike Donavan)
will also be appearing this season.

Badler may have had to audition, but there is no way in hell they weren't going to cast her. Fanboys would have gone nuts, rightfully so I might add. I'm almost inclined to call BS on that one.

Given the fact that this is playing to a niche audience more or less, I wouldn't be surprised if they reveal that
Spoiler:
Singer and Badler's characters have come from an alternate universe. It's sci-fi, anything's possible.

"V" has fanboys?

I'm jumping into this tonight. The recap in the OP did a good job of catching me up.

I hope there are a lot of people starting the show tonight like you . There is a lot of discussion at tvbythe#.com about possible ratings for this season. Season three is still possible but the show have to average at least 6-7 million (2.0-2.2 Demo share) this season.

While I will admit the first season was rocky after the pilot it stabilzed half way through and became pretty engaging. I'm hoping season two continues down the same path.

Excellent decision to have Laura Vandervoort in her undies in the premiere

Re: "V" -- Season Premiere -- "Red Rain" -- 1/04/11

Good stuff tonight. Glad this is back. Serialized science fiction dramas like this are a dying breed.

I have to assume that Anna's end game is her wanting to completely wipe out the human race with the V's breeding with the humans. Are we supposed to assume that Anna wants Tyler and Lisa to mate and produce a hybrid offspring like what happened with Ryan and Val?

Ryan's daughter looked like a Lizard/Seahorse in that tank.

Best part of the episode was Anna's tail coming out and then she sliced and diced one of the mother ship captains. The tail did look 100% CGI produced. At least we got a pretty good look at what the V's look like under the skin.

Surprised to see Joshua's memory wiped out of him being part of the 5th Column. I'll have to got back and check out my Blu-Ray of season 1, but did something happen to him in last season's finale after he was captured that would have caused the memory loss?

Oh man, you're not kidding. Highlight of the show. If there's a hotter chick out there, I don't know who she is.

My thoughts exactly. At least having the boy around means we get Lisa in her undies.

This one wasn't half-bad. And we finally get to see some lizard.

Nice nod to FlashForward with that opening dream sequence (whether intentional or not). Decent premiere -- I hate Tyler, but if keeping him around means more of Laura in her panties then so be it.

Definite nod. When this occurred to me I thought I might be reading too much into it. But when I saw the dead crow on the ground, I had no doubt.

First thing I thought of when I saw it. I was like "Is everyone now looking 6 months into the future?"

This was my first time watching and I liked it quite a bit. I don't really know the characters yet, though.

The casting of that actress for the Queen V was perfect.

Re: "V" -- Season Premiere -- "Red Rain" -- 1/04/11

From TVBytheNumbers:
On ABC, V’s 2.1 adults 18-49 rating was the same as its season finale episode on 5/18/10. That doesn’t bode well for The Visitors continuing stay on television.

Sucks about the ratings, I thought this was actually a pretty good episode.

Re: "V" -- Season Premiere -- "Red Rain" -- 1/04/11

2.1 actually isn't that bad. It was actually the best of the night for ABC. Yeah compared to how V premiered last season with a 5.0 it's alot lower, but it actually grew out of No Ordinary Family as it's lead-in.

Re: "V" -- Season Premiere -- "Red Rain" -- 1/04/11

TVBytheNumbers just put up another story where V is included, providing a slightly more positive spin on the same numbers when you include total audience and DVR numbers:
On its 2nd season premiere in a new 9 o’clock time period opposite the second hours of the CBS and NBC premieres, ABC’s V ranked #1 against its broadcast competition with key Men (M18-49/M25-54) and beat out Fox’s Million Dollar Money Drop by 74% in Total Viewers (6.6 million vs. 3.8 million) and by 62% in Adults 18-49 (2.1/5 vs. 1.3/3). V surged by 20% from where it finished out its freshman season in Tuesday’s 10 o’clock hour (6.6 million vs. 5.5 million on 5/18/10), topping its final 7 original airings of last season with the series’ most-watched telecast since March (3/30/10).V is a highly-recorded show, posting substantial growth as time-shifted viewing is added into the final tallies. On average during its first season run, V’s numbers jumped by 1.8 million viewers and by 8-tenths of an Adult 18-49 rating point (+25%) from the initially reported Live + Same Day Numbers to the Live + 7 Day DVR finals.

Re: "V" -- Season Premiere -- "Red Rain" -- 1/04/11

Well the writers have come out and said that if they do end after these 10 season 2 episodes, that the show will have a satisfactory ending, so at least there is that.

I really enjoyed last nights episode and thought the speedier pace really helped make this one of the best episodes of the series. Not to mention finally getting to see some lizard skin :P
