How do you game?

Had an interesting discussion the other day. Reminiscing on our younger days we remembered that when we played video games we would pull up a chair (desk chair or dining room chair) and plant ourselves in front of the TV or lie on the bed when we were kids. So the question is: What position do you play games in?

I primarily sit on the floor with my back against the couch.

I usually sit/lay on the couch or loveseat. When I was a kid (Pong, Atari 2600 days) I always sat on the floor.

But in all seriousness, it's a combination of couch or on the floor next to the couch. It depends on the game. RPG's require me to read(DAMN THAT READING!) and most action games require me to flail my hands around like a goof, so I can sit on the couch or my huge recliner.

I used to mainly sit on the floor in front of the TV until my wife rearranged the furniture a couple of months ago. Now our loveseat is close enough to the TV that I can sit there comfortably and still have a good view. Also, I've noticed that sitting on the couch is a lot better for my back than sitting on the floor. I'm not as young as I used to be.

:lol: at all the floor sitters. Pretty funny. I still enjoy sitting on the floor, back against the couch and my friends think I'm a moron when I do it at their places. I don't sit on the floor at home anymore(recliner), but don't have a problem doing it at friends' places.

I mostly game on the PS3 in my bedroom. I feel too far from the TV if I game while I'm in bed, so I generally sit on the floor, with my back against the foot of the bed. I need some kind of pillowage to make it more comfortable though. My ass starts hurting after awhile, haha...

I have a fairly small 26" LCD (going to upgrade soon hopefully). It worked fine in my last apartment, but now it's really too far away to play FPS or read text well, so I sit on the floor.

I will stand if I'm playing guitar though.

And PC gaming I desk it.

I play standing up, except when I'm playing drums, or when I'm playing one of those more conventional games. RB/DC eat up most of my gaming time though.

when i need to have a headset on, i sit ont he floor with my back to my recliner, but if Im just playing myself or online without talking to people, i sit in the recliner...

Sit on the floor - Have some self respect and pick your ass up off the ground!
Sit on a couch/recliner - Okay.
Pull up a chair infront of the TV - My grandfather does this because he can't see... no one should play games this well.
Lie on a bed - Beds are for sleeping alone or with someone else... nothing else.
Other - How about standing up? I guess this post wasn't meant for anyone that owns a Wii!

When I was a kid I used to be able to sit on a couch and even lay down while playing. Now I just sit on the floor. Any other way of sitting and I don't feel like I'm paying attention or that I'm too far away from the screen (even though it's only about a foot more).

I've been playing in an AK Rocker for the last 6 or 7 years. It's getting really old and I need to change it up. When I had couches in here, they were too far away to be effective (I think it's about 19 feet from screen to wall).

damn, how far do you people saying couch sit from your tv and what size screen do you have?!

I have a 50" tv which is about 10 ft from the couch ... I tried to play Uncharted 2 MP the other day from the couch and it is just way to difficult to follow from that distance

It just depends. Gaming at my house, my carpet is fairly comfortable and its home so *shrug*. But my parents are wood panel in most places, so I would always just sit in a chair. And then there are floors where I would be scared to sit on the floor, carpet or not.
