I would gladly pay real money for some sort of DLC that would keep my horse from dying so easily.

There's a glitch to get the house and keep your $5k:
"In whiterun when you're given the option to buy the house for 5,000 gold there is a way to get the home and keep all that gold. This proves to be especially useful for lower level players who want a house, but don't want to blow all their cash. So, make sure you talk to the Jarl's attendant who sells it to you when he is near a chest, dresser, or something you can store you gold in. Go through the dialoge, say you wish to purchase it, then once you've pressed A to purchse, quickly press B a couple times to leave this screen and then quickly deposit your money into the chest. This also works for all the upgrades available to the house. He will indicate they'll be in your home next time you arrive, and you'll see the key placed in your inventory but you will keep all the gold."

I don't like exploiting glitches (I consider it cheating) but I've been thinking about this one. I haven't tried but the problem I have with it is that I didn't know you can dump gold into chests. Can you?

Does anyone know when you can get dual flame in skyrim?

For example, I have 'flame' in both hands. When I press Rt and LT at the same time..it looks like it just sprays fire from both hands at the target. But I am looking at video, where it looks like 2 fireballs merge into one fireball..and then you shoot that at your badguy (Kind of like in street fighter)

What would be the point in that? I thought gold carries no weight?

The exploit is that you dump the gold into the chest..so you can get the key to the home, without actually giving the guy your gold.

I thought it was something you had to pick up via the perk skill trees.

Where cna you find horses that you don't have to pay for? I hear horses die very easily.

I ran into a Stormcloak camp near Whiterun and I found a horse that I jumped on without stealing it. Downside is this horse does not hang around when you jump off. Which is not a big dieal because I'm bound to kill him by falling off a cliff anyways.

Last night had a great quest spoilers for "Missing in action" I decided to go in by myself and try to get Thorald out peacefully. My horse died so i ended up spending two hours walking on foot to Northwatch keep. Talked to the guards who denied Thorald was still alive and i would have to talk to their superior. having walked for two hours i was royally pissed and stormed the prison, made my way down killing nearly a dozen imperial guards and finally found Thorald. Escorted him back up killing more imperials on the way. Made it outside where i was greeted by half a dozen more guards. Don't know how, but managed to wipe them all out while Thorald just stood there doing nothing to help! Man what a fucking epic quest!

My only problem now is that i've killed the imperials i'm now on the rebels side. Is there anyway to re-join the imperials or am i pretty screwed till i can start my next play through?

They're saying on IGN that there has to be a problem with Skyrim on the PS3 because the game saves get bigger and bigger. Did they not play any of the Fallout games and notice that they did the same the more that you did in the game? However, it is weird that the number of game saves you have can affect how the game itself runs.

JasonF
11-18-11, 07:46 PM
I doubt it's the number of saves -- it's the fact that a save basically includes the status of every location/item/person you've encountered. The way to test my theory (which I'm too lazy to do) is to go back and load an early save and resave it, then see if it's the approximate size of the early save or the approximate size of the latest save.

The reason that each subsequent save is bigger is because of exactly what you said. However, this is nothing new as both Fallout games operated this same way. I haven't played enough of Skyrim to have it happen but it did slow my Fallout 3 game tremendously when I had several different saves, around 60 or more. I expect the same problem to occur if a large number of saves are accumulated for Skyrim.

I don't think that skill works with the first set of basic spells. You need to buy the next set of spells (try the mage in whiterun castle).. fire bolt, ice spike, lighting bolt.

It is a lot of money, but the fun part for me was doing minor quests and little jobs in and around town to save up enough to buy it. Felt great when I finally earned enough. That's sort of the way it was meant to be played.

Why not? It is completely realistic for horses to carry things for you; in fact it's stupid for them not to. It's not like they didn't have an example in Oblivion. It was one of the most popular mods. I hate cheats and never downloaded those mods, but the Saddlebag mod should have been in the game. Everything was there for it in the existing game and it was so easy to do. You would mount your horse if you were in normal mode but in sneak you would "pickpocket" its inventory.

I still can't figure how to tell if I am diseased or what. There is nothing listed under magic effects. It seems like the only way I can tell is by looking at all of my skills and seeing if any are red. The problem comes when I don’t go to the Skills screen for a while because I’m not ready to level up. Yesterday I finally leveled up and noticed my one handed was in red at 15! What the fuck! I haven’t had the time to hit a church since I discovered it. I’m hoping that will “cure” it.

This has happened to me a number of times. The only jump scare moments I've had in this game have been accidental ones caused by my followers. The best was getting separated in a dark and ominous dungeon, opening a door in sneak mode, and having a large Nordic lady wielding a warhammer standing directly above me on the other side. Luckily she was on my team, though I still don't know how she got ahead of me through closed doors.

What I did when I ran into the one on the stairs was to use a fireball scroll to open the fight and then when it approached I used two hands of flames to flamethrower it until it died. I let it wail on me and I just kept pausing and drinking my restore magicka/health potions until I killed it. Nothing else (melee or my lightning magic, which is what i'm focused in) helped.

Just started playing this game this weekend. Really, really enjoy it -- much more than I did Oblivion which I couldn't get into at all. I think the lack of a stringent set-up and skill trees really make it appeal to me more - this feels more like Mass Effect 2 in being able to just get going (but not as linear, of course) and that's the sort of RPG I enjoy.

I must admit, I didn't feel very chivalrous while running like a scared schoolgirl away from the frost troll, leaving Lydia to fend for herself, but I couldn't figure any way to even hurt that troll with my low-level character this early in the game. I was sure I'd never see her again, but somehow she made it up the mountain shortly after I did. :)

Yep. That's where. I assume running scared is the only option at that point? The closest I came to defeating him was having him chase me around a large rock while blasting him intermittently with fire and lightning bolts. That just pissed him off and he seemed to regenerate health faster than I regenerated Magica. Ah. Makes sense since I haven't even done that yet for the main story. I find that interesting. I always attack these games from doing the story missions first and then pick up other taskss along the way. It speaks to the freedom allowed in Skyrim that you can play for over 40 hrs without tacking even the early story missions yet.

This (http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-personality-flaws-skyrim-forces-you-to-deal-with) made me laugh pretty hard:

I have yet to do a single thing in Skyrim in the proper order. I'm constantly showing up to some dude's castle that I've never seen before, only to hand over a mystical item that I'd mentally scratched off as garbage hours ago, and then sit and listen to the story be retroactively explained to me:

King: Wanderer! Thank the gods you've come! The prophecy told us that a mighty warrior would arise, worthy of wielding Fjalnir, the God-axe, and slaying the evil Demon Prince Synraith. We believe you to be that warrior. What say you, traveler? Will you accept this task?

Me: Yea, verily I shall accept thine task and vanq- wait, Synraith? Fiery dude in a floating city? Cape made out of screeching souls? Ahhh, shit. I already killed that guy.

King: You ... already slew the Demon Prince, the Knife in the Dark, the Void at the Heart of All Men, whose identity you did not learn until just now?

Me: Yup. I saw that castle floating up in the sky, and I wanted to know if I could jump up the rocks to get in the back way. It took a lot of reloads, but I finally managed to hop on up in there.

King: You "hopped on up" into the Abyssal Palace?

Me: Yeeeep, yep yep yep. Just squat-jumped on in there and looted the place. Then I killed that Sydney guy-

King: Synraith, Demon Prince of the Abyss.

Me: -yeah him. I ganked that guy. Mostly just to see if I could. Plus he looked like kind of a dick.

King: Indeed, the Foulest of the Foul was "kind of a dick." But you vanquished him without the aid of sacred Fjalnir, the God-axe?

Me: Totally. It wasn't even a thing. I just hid on top of a bookshelf where he couldn't reach me and shot him with arrows. Then I waited until he forgot I was shooting him, and did it all again to get the sneak damage bonus. Took a while, but he died all the same.

King: Forsooth! Thine heroic deeds are ... well, that sounds kind of fucked up, actually. Never thought I'd feel bad for He Who Devours. So you have no need of our sacred totem weapon?

Me: What, the gold dealy, with the shiny bits? Nah, I already stole that out of the display case four hours ago, before I knew who you were. I gave it to Sven, but he Quantum Leaped out of the game with that shit.

King: Huh. So. I guess ... the bards will ... sing of your tale now?

Me: Oh yeah? Sweet, let's hear it.

Bard: The hero came with eyes aflame / his tasks already done / the land was rescued all the same / but 'tis kind of a shitty song.

Me: Word.

I still can't figure how to tell if I am diseased or what. There is nothing listed under magic effects. It seems like the only way I can tell is by looking at all of my skills and seeing if any are red. The problem comes when I donít go to the Skills screen for a while because Iím not ready to level up. Yesterday I finally leveled up and noticed my one handed was in red at 15! What the fuck! I havenít had the time to hit a church since I discovered it. Iím hoping that will ďcureĒ it.

Diseases are under "Active Effects" (or whatever it's called) in the magic menu -- the bottom-most choice. Somewhere in that list of active effects will be whatever effects of the disease. You can cure it by praying at a shrine/temple or by drinking a potion of cure disease.

Yes, I know that, but it's not there. It mentions nothing bad, just the positive effects from my weapons and armor. The only way I know it is because my One-handed skill is in red and about half what it should be.

Ha! Serves you right with your fancy "I know where they tell you about diseases and I already checked there and even though there's nothing there, I'm still convinced I have a disease."

General consensus is that this is a glitch. The good news is that it appears to be limited to the display -- behind the scenes, the game still knows what your ability score really is.

Just picked this up yesterday and after about 5 hours I can already tell that I won't be playing any other games until at least January or February. I went with high elf but I still haven't decided what I want to do with this character. In 5 hours I've switched back and forth between battlemage, pure mage, and stealth archer with no real upgrade direction. I think I'm around a level 6 or 7 with at least 2 or 3 unspent perks. I guess I'll figure it out sooner or later.

Just skimmed through the thread and it seems like most of you guys had a companion for the golden claw quest, but I did that one solo straight out of River Run. I just killed the first dragon and I still don't have one yet (though I think I declined someone's offer to follow me around for $500). Seems like I just haven't talked to the right people yet.

Not much else to add yet other than I'm a little surprised that some of you don't like the lockpicking feature. It's straight out of Fallout 3 and I have to imagine that if you're having a problem with it then you either don't fully understand how it works or you're moving the controller too abruptly so you keep breaking your lockpicks. I would almost argue that most locks are almost too easy to pick, even at a low skill level.

just some observations of a level 42 character 70 plus hours in...

I have split my growth down the middle between one handed and destruction....both are near 90 on my skill tree...

Early on magic was amazing..but by the middle of my development the sword really started to shine...

now it is not even close...I can take people out in seconds with a sword compared to forever with my magic...I have perks on destruction...items that add to destruction...and I still just drain slowly enemies with magic, but a few swings with my sword...dead.....against some later enemies magic is starting to feel under-powered to me...

I do love the flame cloak though...put that bad boy on and go in swinging and you take a group of enemies fast...In fact the flame cloak takes out enemies faster than my fire/electric/ice spells...if I just run up to them with the spell activated they die in seconds...if I was to use the flame spell, I doubt I could take out the same enemy before I die...it almost seems broken in some way...like all my bonuses are effecting flame cloak but taking away from normal spells...

almost done with Dark...good but not as good as the Dark Brotherhood of Oblivion...(though that was one of the best story lines of any game ever)

Well... I've only put in about 4 hours thus far but I've done the beginning, did a little wandering, went through a mine that was guarded and occupied by bandits, and did the Golden Claw quest.

I know I'm going to echo what a lot of other people here are already saying about this game but, man I'm floored.

I probably put about 20 hours into Oblivion after it was released, and it was cool and all but I couldn't force myself to play it more than that. Everything felt too disconnected... The combat was really atrocious, the open world wasn't that diverse, the caves and dungeons all looked pretty similar, and the main quest was the most unimaginative main storyline I've ever took part in - Look at me running from Oblivion gate to Oblivion gate, all of which has the (nearly) same exact layout inside! It was uninspired. I also am pushed away by any RPG that punishes me for choosing a gameplay style and not being able to alter my primary or secondary focus.... which is most of them. But there have been some amazing options for me over the years... Final Fantasy VII and VIII, The Legend of Zelda series from Ocarina forward, etc.

Skyrim on the other hand, is the game that Oblivion should have been. The open world actually seems like an open world... it's very diverse, as it should be. The combat is much more refined, enjoyable and at times, even feels rewarding. I can actually switch up my Nord to have some magic skills if I want. The dungeons and caves seem to be diverse as well and not just in and of themselves, but compared to the other ones you'll visit as well. Everything feels unique from everything else in the game, and I know this game will provide me MANY more hours of fun than Oblivion EVER did.

I'm not quite as far along as you, but I've been trying magic in one hand and a sword in the other, and I ended up ditching the magic hand, putting an ax in it and I am unstoppable - except for enemies that are far away, then I just quickly switch back, but it's not very often.

Yeah, destruction magic is definitely underpowered in this game. I used it for a while early on, but after about level 25 or so it got abandoned in favor of one-handed (which I had already been using) and sneak + archery (which is never-ending fun even if it is overpowered).

I guess they wanted people who are playing as true mage characters to use a combination of the various schools of spells. But who needs to build up destruction magic when every character gets essentially the same powers via shouts?

Some of the daedric quests in this game are really creative, and they usually have really good, unique rewards. I'd suggest going for those when you find one, since they're not really tied to anything else (that I've seen so far).

Levels are based on your skills getting leveled. So if you spend a hour power leveling your smithing/enchanting, you will be level 10 in no time with equipment of a level 2.

This true?

Read some interesting things about this subject on Reddit this morning.

Apparently, your companions never get stronger - they keep the same stats they had when you met them for the very first time. So if you're like me and you got Lydia, Uthger, whoever, at the very beginning of the game, but are now around level 40, this explains why they still die so easily and don't do much damage regardless of how you equip them.

If you play on PC, however, you can fix this in the console!!!

First, make sure they aren't following you. Tell them you want to part ways.
Then, open up console, click on them, and enter "disable" and then "enable".
If you look at their stats now ("getav marksman" to check their archery skill, for example), they will be higher and level appropriate.

Also, if you're sick of worrying about them dying, or worrying about your magic or arrows killing them, you can make them essential/invulnerable.

"setessential" is the command for that, I believe.

But it's also true of your quests as well, meaning that when you initially get a quest, regardless of if you go on it or not, it gets locked into whatever level you were when you first got it. So if you pile up quests, then go on them many levels later, they will be much easier than they would have been if you went on them immediately.

I am 60 hours in and at level 48. I have managed to level up nicely and am at a stage now where pretty much nothing stands in my way beyond a few hits. Still got many, many things to do, but generally addicted to this game. The lag on the PS3 at this point with my save file being around 13mb is getting nasty at times and forcing me to reset. Hope an update will address this issue. Great game though.

just some observations of a level 42 character 70 plus hours in...

I have split my growth down the middle between one handed and destruction....both are near 90 on my skill tree...

Early on magic was amazing..but by the middle of my development the sword really started to shine...

I have spent most of my time also with one handed and magic. I have them almost maxed out to 100 and its fantastic fun to see bodies go flying when hit with a powerful weapon or a lightening bolt.

On a down note, at one stage i lost Lydia in a battle and it kinda bummed me out. Tried not using companions much as i prefer to go into battle alone.

There are companions aplenty in this game, so losing one isn't a big deal. Lydia's been sitting alone in my house in Whiterun for 80+ hours of game time, patiently waiting for my various other followers to die. Not gonna happen, lady!

since I have given up on magic for the most part...(I only use it for far away targets and the amazing flame cloak spell)...I started using a shield...Blocking is a lot better than I thought it would be...very powerful. I have the stone that gives me 25% reduced magic dmg...a ring that does the same...and if I block with a shield I get 50% less dmg to fire/ice/ect....It seems to me that I am not taking ANY dmg to elemental spells or fire breath at all now when I block...

how is playing a mage in this game?

He should have ducked!

I'm playing as a mage/warrior Imperial. Mace in one hand, flames in the other. So far. I like some of the specials for other races better, but it seemed Imperials were somewhat balanced. Although I'm using the mace because it captures souls, but apparently that's only good for enchanting stuff? Which i have not done much if at all, if I find another weapon that does some other magic bonus I might use it instead.

5 grand takes a long time to get, I'm tired of carrying around all this stuff.

One comment - the landscape is beautiful, but people are not.

Hack and slash a bunch, and spam healing potions or spells as needed? There's very little strategy involved in combat in this game, really, and not much variety from enemy to enemy. (This is my biggest complaint about the game, by the way, especially right after playing Dark Souls with its precise, specific, and beautifully flowing combat.)

You could try using ward spells if his magic is really destroying you, but really, the best strategy for all enemies in the game (at least, the ones where sneak+archery=instakill isn't a viable option) is hack and heal, repeat until they go down. If all else fails and you're stuck, drop the difficulty down a notch for that specific fight.

I finished the main quest over the weekend and it was good....but thought Oblivion had a better ending. I guess because my character is so kick ass at the moment that the end battle was a breeze for me. Literally nothing can do much damage to me in the game anymore. I am actually loving that fact. Hitting bad guys with a bolt of electricity or a heavy mace and seeing the bad guys fly a distance is great. Taken me some time to get to where i am (Level 52. Magic at 320, Health 320 and Stamina at 230...i believe). I have Ebony armor, a ring and necklace of destruction and i can't recall the mace that i use....but its bad ass and has a damage of 41. Yeah, daedric is better as far as I can tell, and it looks more awesome too. That's why I said dragon armor is "some of" the best in the game. ;) It probably is the best for Light Armor users, actually.

The mountain thing is indeed annoying, but it's been that way for every game that has used this Bethesda engine this generation. It's gotten to the point where friends will sometimes ask me what I'm doing and I will respond with "trying to climb Mt. Bethesda" and they know exactly what I'm talking about. Haven't had any issue with finding specific people, though, when using the map, compass, and active quest markers.

As I said I don't put anything into smithing...do you guys think I should be? I'm playing a sneak/archer type and then when I'm spotted I use one-handed with a bit of destruction (and restoration). I'm about level 23 now I think, and use light armor generally (it's at level 49 or so).

Sounds about right as far as your skills for that level. Smithing has a couple of advantages -- you can make much more powerful equipment earlier in the game if you build up your skill correctly, for one thing. But the biggest advantage, since that equipment will be commonly obtainable in the game later on anyway, is the ability to upgrade your weapons and armor at workbenches and grindstones. You can really buff up the stats of your gear with those upgrades once your Smithing skill is high enough. But again, it all depends on how you want to play; you can get through the game just fine without Smithing.

This true?
"Read some interesting things about this subject on Reddit this morning.

"setessential" is the command for that, I believe."

In the guide it says they do level up with you. Does anyone know what the truth is?

As far as I know, companions stay at a static level after you gain them as a companion. They are leveled when they join you but never go up from there.

As painful as it is to agree with everything Jim Sterling says, that video gets a giant "fuck yes!" from me.

Rstoration seems to level so damn slow compared to my other major skills (destruction, light armor, and one handed weapons) I mainly use fast heal. Are there better spells to use?

Someone posted earlier that quests are locked at the level when you receive them (i.e. if you hear about a quest at level 3 and don't get around to it till you are level 20, you will be facing level 3 enemies with level 3 rewards). I can say, anecdotally, that this is not true. I cleared a bandit layer I somehow heard about and had in my miscellaneous quests since the beginning of the game. I nearly got my ass handed to me several times and the loot was far more than I was getting at the beginning of the game. This makes me happy because I would have considered it a pretty big flaw.

there are moments though were the enemy scaling is broken...when you find it harder to fight 3 bandits you find in a cave late in the game than any dragon...even the named ones....

but for the most part I found the game scaled about right when set to one level below the hardest setting...

Pretty much, but as much as I prefer singleplayer games, I can understand why they feel they need a multiplayer component in some cases. It's easy to say that an Elder Scrolls game doesn't need multiplayer, because it's so massive and there's so much to do. On the other hand, a much shorter, linear game like Uncharted doesn't take that long to finish. I can see why they felt they needed to tack on some multiplayer.

Okay, so I just began my adventure in Skyrim. I wake up on the cart with the other guys....there is a little bit of talking. After guy A asks the thief what city he is from, NOTHING HAPPENS! The cart sounds like its moving but is going nowhere because the cart in front is stopped. Nobody is talking or moving. I can't do anything because "your hands are bound". I assume this is a glitch...doesn't bode well when the first 30 seconds of the game glitch out. I am on PS3 and just downloaded the 92MB patch.
awesome.

Edit: I quit and restarted....couldn't even load the other game even though it said at one point it was saving before it crapped out. Looks like its working now.

I'm pretty sure that's not what the book says. I was reading it last night. I don't have it with me to check.

I think someone mentioned it was a pretty big bug.

Yeah, seems like people are having issues with the P3 version. That sounds like a major bug!

Speaking of patches and bugs: Does anyone know if any have been released for the Xbox version? I haven't seen it downloading anything automatically.

Only major bug I found was once the ground below the blacksmith in Whiterun disappeared. I knew I shouldn't do it but I couldn't resist -- I walked under the smelter and soon found myself 20 feet below the house. I had to fast travel back to Whiterun to get back on solid ground.

As long as we're talking about problems...

Is anyone having issues with the game freezing on them?
It's happening to me more and more (on a newer black/slim 360).
But it ONLY happens during the loading screen when I go from one area to another - there's that black screen with the smoke, and then it just freezes and nothing. Sometimes I can eject and restart other times I have to power down and back up. Since it's always happening during loading, I'm thinking of just installing it to the HD, regardless of texture issues.

Yeah, I thought so too. As I have previously said, my gf doesn't have internet way up in the mountains and can't download any patches. When I took my profile and save games to her house it wouldn't let me play because I assume the game wasn't updated upon install. Taking the advice of a poster here I took her hard drive (depriving her of Skyrim for a night) and put it in my Xbox and loaded the game. I assumed it would automatically detect that Skyrim had not been updated and go ahead and do it. Nothing happened and I couldn't figure any way to get it to do it manually. So I'm still not able to bring my game over and play. I'm hoping if they put out a new patch I'll be able to get it on her's.

Playing it installed and have had one freeze thus far. I think I just hit 90 hours last night. Luckily I had just left a dungeon and fast traveled so I was able to reboot and load my autosave. No other freeze problems than the one though.

I've had it installed to the HD from the beginning, and through 60 or so hours I've had 2 or 3 lockups - both at the loading screen like you, IIRC. I've never noticed a texture problem either, but I may just be a moran and not realize I've been playing with poorer graphics all this time. :p

Wouldn't your hard drive be registered to your system? I think you're just going to have to take her system to your place and sign her up for a Live account.

Okay a couple of questions.

1) I was doing the college of winterhold quest in saarhanthal..and I fought a freaking Draugr Scourge, according to the strat guide they are level 21. I was lvl 12 wtf? I was expecting a Draugr Wight at the worst.

2)How do I recharge items that have lost charges? I don't need to re-enchant do I? Just need a soul gem?

3)I had 3 thalmar Justicars attack me this morning, they had a order to execute me because I have done damage to the Aldari Dominion, what could cause this? I haven't attacked them..and I haven't even progressed the main quest pass the Dragon reborn quest (The one where you kill the dragon in whiterun)

1) Yeah, when I came across that thing I was surprised as hell. Far and away the toughest enemy for me so far (and I'm at level 24 now...but was probably about the same as you when I faced him).

3) I was in the college once and 3 guys showed up in my sleeping quarters, I wasn't in them though, they started attacking some other mage, I had no idea what was happening. So I kill them and take a note off one of them, it was an order to kill me for stealing. No idea who I stole from, but I know I was never seen stealing.

Did you win? The game has to put a challenge in your way from time to time...

You have to have a filled soul gem...highlight the weapon in your inventory...and then hit RB on the 360 (not sure what on the ps3)...it will bring up all your filled soul gems and you pick the one you want to use...the stronger the gem, the less you need to charge a weapon...to fill a soul gem you can find weapons that fill up empty gems when you kill enemies..and I think there is also a spell, though I never used it...just weapons...

I think this is the games way of making you feel like it is changing with your actions...maybe you killed a thalmar chicken? I am sure you did something that hurt them..

I thought the Dragon Priest was a pain as I keep getting killed so all I then was on next reloaded just ran out of the room and when I spotted him crossing the bridge I just cast my powerful destruct spell on him and ran back so he couldn't see me. Just repeat til he was dead and the Staff of Magnus was mine. :)

My horse has gotten incredibly brave (or incredibly stupid). It used to be that he'd run off during a fight and I'd have to find him afterwards. Now he jumps right in there! Last night he even chased a dude up a flight of narrow stairs.

You've had the same horse survive for longer than 10 minutes? Must be the special one I've heard about but haven't found yet.

That's another problem I have with this game. Riding a horse is pointless and feels like a completely tacked-on afterthought. The first time I tried it, I thought I must be doing something wrong when I couldn't fight from horseback, but no. In order to fight the 3 bears that will inevitably show up every 20 feet when you're riding, you have to dismount and unsheathe your weapon, by which time they've clawed away about two-thirds of your horse's health.

But yes, they are brave! I've discovered that a round of horse vs. dragon doesn't turn out well for horse.

Wish I wouldn't have updated to the new patch...no problems yet, but I wasn't having any with the old version...from what I've read, I'd suggest not accepting the update and playing offline until you're sure a patch is doing more good than bad.
