A quick question concerning BD player and RGB
Ok all, I've just bought a BD player as it was almost dirt cheap on black friday. (The Sony BDP-S370) Now, I've tried to hook it up with some monster cables red/blue/green cables to my tv that has rgb "holes" (not sure what they're called.) I get picture fine but no sound at all. I normally use the red/yellow/white "holes" for my xbox 360. This is displayed on video2. Video1 actually has five holes a red and white, and then also red/green/blue. I've only tried the lower red/green/blue should I try the red in the upper one or what? Thanks for reading and hopefully for helping.
edit: Ok, I've had a closer look at the back of my tv the rgb grouped together are called component, naturally. The red and the white holes above it though are labeled audio. I thought that rgb cords would transfer video and audio. Am I mistaken and need to also plug in the red and white or what?

The RGB are otherwise known as component connections & do not carry audio. You'll still need the red/white from the BD player to get audio.

Aye, I've figured that out from playing with it. Thank you for the quick response though. I have another simple question if you don't mind, is rgb HD?

For maximum performance, pick up an HDMI cable from Amazon or monoprice.com for just few dollars. Don't buy the $30 versions retail. It will carry the best audio and video through one cable and will allow the player to upconvert standard DVD's. In other words all the benefits of the player with one connection.

Really, get a cheap HDMI cable. (Providing your television has an HDMI input.)
One cable will carry 1080p video and stereo audio to your television (doesn't sound like you have a receiver).

Not to derail the topic, but how do players handle HDMI to DVI cables? I ask because I picked up a player for my parents for Christmas, but their tv only has DVI.

So long as their DVI is HDCP-compatible, then it will be fine. However, not all DVI connections on TV's have HDCP (especially older TV's).
Also, DVI does not carry audio, so you will still need to hook up either the analog audio outputs (like the OP needs to), or one of the digital audio (coax/optical) connections.
