Question about X Files seasons on Amazon.
Does anyone know if the X Files dvd's Amazon sells would be the slim cases or the original fold out box set's ?
some of the seasons pictured on Amazon appear to be the box sets, but I don't know if thats a reliable enough source to go ahead and make the purchase.
Any help would be appreciated.

The fold out boxes are no longer being made. It'll either be a box set with slim cases holding the discs or a regular sized DVD case holding all of the discs. More likely the case holding all of the discs. That's what I got last year when I ordered seasons 5-9.

Re: Question about X Files seasons on Amazon.
I just ordered Seasons 7-9 at the end of August and they came in the regular 14 MM sized cases with all the discs on hinges. Very Nice Space Savers.

I think the only place you'll still find the Collector's Sets or even the first iteration of Slim Sets will probably be Ebay or Amazon Marketplace, just be CAREFUL about what you're buying and who you're buying from. Having said that however, I've seen the first version of slim set seasons of X-Files sprinkled around at Sam's Club and at WalMarts.
My X-Files collection consists of a mix of Collector's Sets and the first version of the slim sets. Unless space is a MAJOR consideration, I wouldn't care to own those new slim sets where all the discs are crammed together in a 1/2" thick case, although I did buy the Farscape Complete Series set because the individual seasons were being scalped BADLY at Ebay, and I didn't want to pay a small fortune for Farscape. I hate how they have the discs arranged in the new slim sets. -kd5-

Re: Question about X Files seasons on Amazon.
as an interesting side note, I found 2 brand new seasons of the original collectors editions sitting on a shelf collecting dust at a local Blockbuster.
They're only asking 109.99 a season.

FYI, the single-width cases with "all" the discs on hinges are missing the extras disc, just like the slimmed sets. The only way to get a version of "The X-Files" with the extras discs is to track down the fold-out versions (which are on Amazon -- look for the out-of-print listings: http://www.amazon.com/X-Files-Comple.../dp/B00003RQND) or buy the "Complete Series" box set ($152 doesn't seem that bad: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...RJNGDRHW24MM4H).
