What's your price point? Currently, you can get a Hitachi 500 GB 7200 RPM from Newegg for $50 free shipping. 1 TB drive for $20 more. Cheaper if you wait for a sale. On a $/GB basis, it's probably not worth it to get a 250-320 GB drive.
If you have a MicroCenter near you, they currently have a Samsung 500 GB 7200 RPM drive for $45.
