Storm Chaser's Matt Hughes RIP

even though his death was early this year (May 26) it was only last week's episode of Storm Chasers that revealed this and was in fact dedicated to his life and career - I was devasted, since the episode ended with him absolutely estatic that he helped IMAX documentary director Sean Casey film the elusive perfect IMAX shot of a tornado in full action.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt's family, and we ask fans to kindly respect their privacy. A special memorial fund has been established to benefit Matt's two young sons.

Pretty weak that after last week's episode where he finally gets the TIV into a tornado, he goes home and tries to hang himself. Suicide is something I just don't understand. *shrug*

there is some speculation that he was suffering from a form of depression.

Yeah again, I just don't understand suicide. I'm sure telling his two small children that daddy had depression will make things all better for them. As a father myself, I couldn't fathom ANYTHING that would cause me to remove myself from my son's life.

That being said, love the show!

Most people who commit suicide aren't well mentally. It's not as simple as 'But why would he? He has with kids and all. It's so selfish'

I understand it's a mental issue. I don't have that issue, so I just can't understand the mindset of thinking about/attempting/succeeding in committing suicide. I also can't understand why people eat sushi
