I liked the first one the most. I like board games so I enjoyed the fantasy of the
. Wasn't too into the second, it didn't really do anything special for me, except for the ending, which I did appreciate. Of course explaining why I chuckled at Maggie's pose and the music to my eight year old was a little odd and very brief. Didn't really like the third one much except for all the
.
Not one of the best, not one of the worst. I don't consider it a waste of thirty minutes but I wouldn't put it in the top Five THoH lists. But yeah, why they don't air in October....esp. when Halloween is actually on a Sunday. Although that's probably more Fox's doing, not the content creators [I would think].

The Treehouse of Horror episode aired the weekend before Halloween from its introduction in 1990 though 1999. Since 2000 the Treehouse of Horror has aired the weekend after Halloween every year except for 2009, when it aired nearly two weeks before Halloween.

The Office opening - huh?
Jumanji (1995)
Was ok.
Dead Calm (1989)
Never saw this, so I didn't get much of this story, which was ok, I guess.
Twilight (2008)
I think this was probably the best of the three stories.
A Clockwork Orange (1971)
I didn't get the hat Maggie had, and checked imdb. It was just one of the few Kubrick movies I didn't think I'd like.
Good thing I saw the treehouse XX rerun at 7:30pm ET. I think that was far better than XXI.

They gave away the best parts of the Twilight parts in the commercials for the ep.
The first one was decent, I didn't care for the middle part.

I only caught the segment where everyone was being poisoned by some guy on a boat. I'm guessing that was the Dead Calm parody. Didn't care for it.

Two Words: World Series. Fox makes a lot more from MLB than from the Simpsons

Come on, they've always done riffs of movies that were sometimes decades old.
I enjoyed all the parts of this year's Treehouse. Loved Milhouse turning into a werepoodle, and Homer's suggestive ringtones.
"I know, I know...don't serve garlic, don't stab your guests in the heart with a wooden stake, don't ask him if he knows Frankenstein...it's racist somehow."
"Pretty ironic...a cross being used to kill someone."

I understand that and realize that is the reason. How long does Fox have the World Series for? I take it those games don't do like the SuperBowl and alternate networks each year, as I seem to recall Fox having it for quite some time.

Of the more recent Treehouse Of Horror episodes, I think this one was pretty good.
The first story was a lot of fun. I liked when Bart said he wished he could see his mom again to tell her it was all her fault. Milhouse drowning and Rod and Todd dying were pretty funny. I loved them making fun of Mouse Trap too. So true, that game never worked.
The second story was sort of boring until the very end. Got a lot of laughs from Homer killing everyone and reciting puns ("Bankers Away" while killing two bankers with an anchor, for example). Loved the ending with Maggie and Homer's ringtones. Also got a kick out of Homer saying "They should call this one Recipe For Disaster."
The third story was pretty cool too. Homer's vampire dinner etiquette was funny. I got a good laugh out of Otto in the bus. All the different types of vampires was cool too, especially the Sesame Street riff. Homer killing them in the end with his high cholesterol, lol.
Not the best Treehouse Of Horror, but a solid entry.

I liked it and got a kick out of the Dead Calm parody. I'd completely forgotten about that movie but now want to see it again. I also thought The Office style opening was pretty funny.

BTW, Dead Calm is worth seeing -- but it has nothing to do with the horror/suspense elements.

I liked the Office open, but the Jumanji thing didn't make any sense to me, why did they finish the Mouse Trap game to fix everything, shouldn't it have been Jumanji?
