Favorite season of Star Trek
I like season 3 the best because of everyone's increased chemistry and naturalism when they were so honed in their roles even though some of my favs like Private Little War and Arena are in 2.

Re: Favorite season of Star Trek
I'll go with season 3 as well, if only for the simply wonderful "Turnabout Intruder" epsiode. Shatner's over-the-top style of acting was never more glorious than in that particular show.

People are actually voting for the "Turd Season" - really?!??
Have people lost their minds?? (...Or had them stolen by the Eymorgs???)

Season 1, although there were some great episodes in Season 2, like "Mirror Mirror" and "The Trouble With Tribbles." Oh, and "Amok Time."
ETA: I can't believe anyone could seriously like S3 the best. "Plato's Stepchildren"? "Spock's Brain"? "And the Children Shall Lead"? It's painful just thinking about it.
EATA: Oh, and "The Way to Eden."

I agree about Balance of Terror, but that came after The Menagerie. The rest aren't any of my favorites. Out of my top-10 eps, probably 6 or 7 come from S2.

I'd say that Season 2 has the best individual episodes of the show, but a lot of stinkers. The average episodes of Season 1 were solid. Those episodes combined with the episodes people have already cited gives me reason enough to give Season 1 my nod as the best overall.

I would say season 2 is my favorite.
But there is one problem. These shows never happened. The Star Trek movie reboot (2009) wiped these shows off the timeline map.

City on the Edge of Forever by Harlan Eillison is the best ep of TOS by such a big margin it earns S1 the nod on it's own

They even say it in the frakking movie: It's an alternate timeline. They made a point of saying that specifically so people like yourself wouldn't go grousing all over the internet about it "erasing 40 years of stories".

I've never seen that timeline map before. Anyone know what occurred (and where was it detailed) in 2399 to dissolve the Khitomer Accords?

Ah yes, do you remember what site/forum/other, when, and poster name who bequeathed this valiant thought seed into your boldly singular brain and when exactly did you first read it before it entered into your consciousness to hold and carry the wise words like many fathers and sons did before you?

Season three always got a bad rap, but does have my favorite episode "Requiem for Methuselah." The new syndicated version edits out McCoys wonderful speech to Spock about how his sorrow is more for him than Jim, essentially a "better to have loved and lost" speech, but one of my favorite moments in Star Trek that new audiences unfortunately will miss. I voted season 2 though.

Season 1 edges out season 2 because of all the eps listed above, plus it contains my two favorite eps: A Taste of Armageddon and This Side of Paradise.
