I like that Mumford song better, but the Avett Bros more overall.

The Avetts I've seen in concert twice. Mumford I've only seen on TV and online. I don't know how M&S shows are but having been to TABros those shows are like a traveling hoedown, even if you're in NYC. The crowd always knows every word to every song, and they are always jumping.

I will say for Mumford, though, that it's cool that there's a group across the pond that looks and sounds a bit like a counterpart to the Avetts.

I really like Mumford & Sons. The Avett Brothers still blow them away. Mignonette and Emotionalism are two of my favorite records of the decade, and I and Love and You has a number of my favorite songs of the year (title track, Head Full of Doubt/Road Full of Promise, Perfect Space, etc.).

I like both of these bands, and the comparison has crossed my mind. That said I'd probably have to go Avett just because of the sheer amount of quality material, Mumford is still relatively new.

Palladia has been showing the Avett Brothers concert a lot lately and Mumford & Sons have been getting a ton of radio play around here.

@slop101--While Fleet Foxes are a really good indie band, I'm not interested in discussing which bands are better than TABros and/or M&S. This is about a contest between 2 groups/artists that are apples and oranges when it comes to their music and seeing how they are compared here--I'm not bringing anyone else into that.

I can't stop listening to the Mumford & Sons CD and I might place it ahead of the best of the Avett's offerings. That said, AB's have consistently brought the top-notch goodness.

Toss up.

If Mumford comes out with another album as strong as this one, I'll retroactively give them the victory.
