Even though it has yet to be released or even reviewed, I feel pretty confident labeling the BBS Story box the top Criterion release of 2010, regardless of category.

Re: What's your pick? - THE BEST CRITERION COLLECTION RELEASE OF 2010

I would say the best Blu Criterion this year (so far....) has to be Bigger Than Life, just a great film and I can't believe the Academy passed over James Mason for best actor the year this was released.

Best Criterion DVD release has to be 3 Silent Classics by Josef Von Sternberg
Underworld was unbelievable , the only points off for this set is the packaging
even before I opened it it looked as if there was light shelf wear on the box and one of the DVD's,they should of went with a plastic case.

Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven, Breathless, and the Red Shoes are my favorite blu-rays so far... BUT Paths of Glory and The Night of the Hunter might take the top spots upon release.

Measured solely by my own sense of personal enjoyment, it would be a tie between the Blu-Ray versions of Black Narcissus and The Thin Red Line. Both are equally beautiful to behold, reference quality really, and they are personal favorites. Honorable mentions to the Blu-Ray versions of Red Desert and Walkabout. If I were teaching a course on place and the natural environment in film, I think all four films would be required viewing.

Thus far, I'd have to say the Rossellini box - it opened my eyes to this great filmmaker.

to state 'The Red Shoes' is amazing, is an understatement.

the only other two films I've seen are Lola Montes and The Secret of the Grain (which looks great, even though it has the upper hand and was filmed in Hi-Def)

Then you've got some catching up to do! Check out the Blu-rays of Bigger than Life and Everlasting Moments, to start.

^ and it does not help that when the November B&N sale comes along, I'll be getting another 8 blurays to throw into my 'to watch' pile.

I haven't seen enough of the remastered films to vote, but Revanche and Summer Hours were great and I highly recommend both of them. I'll definitely be picking up Revanche during the upcoming sale.
