View Full Version : Blu Ray Sale - Today Only B2G1Free

Columbia House (dot) com has a sale going on for today Friday the 15th only. If you buy 2 Blu Rays you get a 3rd free. They didn't jack up their prices, 40 percent off still, which is always nice. Plus it works on preorders.

Hopefully they do this on a more regular basis.

I'm not seeing a discount. Is there a code or something?

dadaluholla
10-15-10, 03:33 PM
No code. Just put 3 blu rays in the cart and the lowest price one is free.

If they had free shipping as well, I might bite on this... but as it stands it's not really worth it for me.

Not working for me. I've put 3 different blu rays in the cart and they will not discount.

Both of my accounts are working. Even the $7.48 titles work... Any coupons that will combine? The sale doesn't seem to have a coupon code associated with it, so a coupon (if one exists) might stack...

I'm going to try some more pairings, but I bought two 7.48 titles with four 8.97 titles, and two of the 8.97 titles were free. Granted, the club price on each is 14.95 so they were probably viewed as equals. $7.64 each after shipping.

EDIT: I'm able to do it with the 19.95 club price titles as well. Basically just add 4 of the 50% off titles, and get two of the 40% off titles for free. If the wrong ones show free in your cart, remove titles until the right ones are free, then add the other titles back. I only had to do that once, and it worked perfectly...

This is getting really frustrating. I have tried to place an order on 3 different computers with three different browser types and still can't get it to discount down any of the titles in the cart.

What six did you pick up, kenbenobi?

Are you adding box sets? Box sets can't be the free one.

Nope. Just regular blu rays.

It was definitely tempting, but I had to pass on it. Because the movies I was interested in cost at least 20.97, I didnt think it was as awesome of a buy as a BOGO would be. And while we havent seen a BD BOGO in a year and a half, something tells me that there will be a BD deal with CH every single Friday, in which some will just be ok, while others might be absolutely awesome, including a BOGO or BTGT.

Thanks OP and even though kenbenobi kinda hinted at this I messed around with my order and ended up with:
Grumpy Old Men/Grumpier Old Men Blu-ray $14.97
Scooby-Doo 1 & 2 Collection Blu-ray $14.97
Grown Ups Blu-ray/DVD Combo FREE
Last Boy Scout/Last Man Standing $14.97
Analyze This/Analyze That $14.97
The Expendables Blu-ray/DVD Combo FREE
All for $72.82 ($12.14 a disc)

Dang. I missed it too. I still need to fulfill my account. After which I think I will probably never order from them again with their almost complete lack of sales.

This is a month old, before anyone else gets excited that they missed it today.

Digging up a month old deal should be punishable by death -- Garfield style: "[they] should be dragged out into the street and shot."

This promotion is back as the Friday deal. I also have free shipping on my account and this also works on titles that are less than $20.:)

Are the majority of pre-order blu-rays coming up as full price for you guys?

Thanks for the heads up on the B2G1 sale. The Peanuts Deluxe Holiday Collection is still half price and eligible for free shipping so I grabbed that and 2 others.

^ What else did you grab with it? Just looking for some more ideas. I used to be able to go through every one of CH's blu-rays to see updates, so I'm pleased they finally have a decent number to offer.

I closed out an account with Social Network, Salt and Piranha for $41.94($13.98 per title). Not too shabby.:)

Thanks for the heads up on the B2G1 and to the poster who noted the deal on the Peanuts Set. I got the regular Blu-ray set for half off along with the Digibook/Deluxe releases for Seven and Bridge on the River Kwai. My total came to $46. Not bad. I needed to fufill my account with two more purchases over $19.95 and this should do it. Thanks!

I didn't realize this worked on Pre-Order's... I just ordered The Social Network, The Color Purple, and Malcolm X on Blu-ray with the sale. Works out to $15 each after tax for me.

I didn't need to fulfill, but I took advantage anyway. I got the Peanuts Collection, The League S1, and Pirahna for $42 shipped... Pirahna was actually the free one, which is unusual since that is the pre-order. It's a shame I won't be able to take advantage of the bonus points. I was actually at -4 before this order. Now I'm at +4, but that's still too low...

Thanks for letting us know about this sale. I haven't ordered anything from CH since April but just went buck-wild on this sale. While it's not great, it'll be a while before most titles, especially the pre-orders, will be as cheap as they are in this sale.

I caved and placed another order. Insomnia, Mars Attacks, and Once Upon a Time in America (which is a pre-order) for $30 total on Blu-ray.

Couldn't find anything to go with the Peanuts set, but $21.48 shipped is a very good price. Glad I missed out on the WBshop deal now.

I also bought The Bridge on the River Kwai and Wild China for a total of 45.xx. The nature docs always have a lot of replay value to me.

Also appears to stack with the 801490 code so I got 3 Blu-rays plus 2 DVDs for $42 shipped. One Blu-ray and the 2 DVDs were free. Not bad at all.

It doesn't work for me. If I add 6 titles, then I can one free BD with two free DVD's, but I can't get it to work with just 3 titles...

EDIT: I can get it to work for a little while, but I always seem to add a title that screws it up, then I can't get it to come back. Very strange...

2ND EDIT: Despicable Me is the title that keeps screwing it up...

it still shows this as a valid sale on the frontpage.. but doesn't work.. in addition, I bought 2 titles recently in the 50% off + FS.. those titles are still 50% off and would have been nice to be that plus this B2G1 deal..
