Check out the Toshiba SD1200, great reviews, great player. Less or NO firmware problems comapred to other Toshibas. Plays The Matrix, and other 'Problematic' DVDs in my SD2109 (same as SD1200)

I say if you don't need CD-R capability, get the sony dvp-s360. It can be had for around 200 from www.mercata.com. If you do, get the pioneer dv-333. The toshiba 1200 isn't bad but it seems to have had some problems of late.
