This is really bizarre. Apparently no one told this guy that liberals and hippies make movies that no one watches and then they get awards for them. Well, at least he can count on no award from the hippies after no one watches it. Looks interesting to me, but also looks like the same unbalanced crap you get from the hippie political movies that makes people who don't shower go out to the theaters, where fortunately there are very few others watching.

I have no idea what this movie is, I just loved seeing this on the front page:

:up: Its the old "survival of the fittest" argument. Dammit, I have no way to defeat the logic.

I love how they keep using Reagan blasting government spending. Reagan was famous for quadrupling the national debt, and pretty much started us down this path.

Reagan had a reason, a goal, and an endgame to his spending.

He did spend big, but it was something he had planned and talked about for years before he was elected, and it worked.

I blame Bush 2.0 for his spending more than I blame Reagan. Reagan had to deal with a Democratic congress. Clinton, Bush 2.0, and Obama all had their parties control congress for their first two years in office. That is where you see what a president thinks about spending.

I was a very young lad at the time. What was it he planned and talked about?

True. I only included those periods of time when a single party controlled all Senate, the House, and the presidency. If the opposition party holds any one of those, you have a different ballgame.

Funny. In the movie they addressed that the left always likes to bring up this point. ;)

Where does one even see this movie?

Not shown in WA or OR. My guess is that you wait.

people always equate blue states with spending money, but most of the federal spending goes to red states. NY and california send a lot more money to washington than they get back. and the Great Society and New Deal programs sent most of their money to red areas where most of the poverty is and more people collect government assistance

Reagan's plan was to be the biggest spending president in history (at the time). The plan was hatched when he was the biggest spending governor in California's history (at the time).

And it worked!

I figured I'd bump this to get more discussion going. It had dropped to the second thread in this forum.

Fuck, I feel bad about all the times I've made fun of the book forum now. Over two and a half months and not a single post in this forum. Why do we have it again?

Finally, my friends, we have done it! Kvrdave's long reign of terror against Book Talk has finally come to an end! Let us rejoice, this forum has served its purpose!

I didn't realize anyone actually volunteered to mod this sub forum. It could have been like the Wild West, all gun fights and horse cocks.

Saw another review. I doubt there is such thing as an unbiased review for this type of film (in either direction), but it said it was good.
