Synopsis for "Care"

Spoiler:
When a body is found at a London hospital, Detective Superintendent Ronnie Brooks (Bradley Walsh) and Detective Superintendent Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber) investigate an emotionally charged death. But can they and Crown Prosecutors James Steel (Ben Daniels) and Alesha Phillips (Freema Agyeman) bring the person responsible to justice?

Premieres tonight at 1030pm on BBC America

Will air future episodes Fridays at 9pm beginning October 8th with episode 2.

These are direct remakes of older Law & Order episodes adapted for the UK.

The only actor here that I'm familiar with is Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica.

These have been shown in Canada for a while.

Not bad, but even I had some trouble figuring out what the hell they say.

And screwed up American law translated into British law, screwed up = some really dodgy stuff here.

It would be interesting if they aired the UK version & then the original US version for viewers to compare them to see what changed.

Re: Law & Order: UK -- The 1st season thread (U.S. Premiere) -- Debuts 10/03/10

Has anyone tried watching this yet? Finally watched episode 1 today and thought it was good. I didn't see the original episode that it was based on, but I think did a good job translating everything for a British audience. The case was pretty interesting with the Carbon Monoxide poisoning on the baby and there was so many steps the Crown Prosecutors (the British version of DA's) had to go through to form a good case. The used a Law and Order UK title graphic with voice over and had the text graphics with the music that L&O normally uses with the timeline and locations in the case. I have to assume that Detectives Devlin and Brooks are based off of Paul Sorvino and Chris Noth's characters from the earlier seasons of L&O. It was a little weird hearing Jamie Bamber act in his original British accent.

I know this show isn't going to interest alot of you here, but I think it's cool to see a British police procedural on American TV even though it is a remake. There is no guns blazing or crazy action sequences, it's pretty much detective work and work by the prosecutors.

I liked the first ep... but really had to strain to understand the older cop, I could understand Apollo just fine.

I loved the wigs, too.

I'll watch it again. Wish it were HD though.

I have not watched this. Not really a procedural fan aside from Castle. Freema was in Doctor Who and the guy next to her looks familiar, but I can't place him.

Target had the first two series of this on DVD as an exclusive around four or five months ago.

I've never really watched any L&O before, so I really enjoyed it. With that said, I assume they cherry picked the best episodes to remake.

I'm definitely enjoying the British twist on original L&O stories. The first episode was a remake of the L&O S2 episode Cradle to Grave. The second was based on the S4 episode Born Bad.

I'm looking at the episode guide - can't wait for the 7th episode. The original it's based on is one of my favorites of the early L&O days.

Interesting show, we enjoyed it. The differences from the original are a nice change of pace, I enjoyed the changes to the courtroom scenes.

Seems to me that the story had been done though, as well as a real life incident in England years ago?

I'll keep watching

That was a really good remake. The guy who played the murderer was great - very creepy.

Liked the British twists such as how hearsay testimony can be admitted and how prosecutors can be subject to gross misconduct complaints.

Good series. I enjoy seeing the differences in the British legal system.

In keeping with the casting of sci-fi actors Jamie (Battlestar Galactica) Bamber and Freema (Doctor Who) Agyeman, the judge in this episode was portrayed by Paul Darrow, Avon from Blake's 7.
