Cute girl. FYI, the Cat Grant character was also on the Lois and Clark ABC series from the 1990's and was played then by Tracy Scoggins.

And she was played by another actress (Emilie Ullerup) last year in the episode "Crossfire". It was the episode where Lois was auditioning for a job at Good Morning Metropolis (dragging Clark to help) and during a blind date segment, Clark's date is Cat Grant and eventually she got the job over both of them.

I really hope that tease in the top right doesn't take all season to see
I really want him to be flying and wearing the suit by week 4 or 5

Same here. But based on how this show has been handled I've always imagined it would be the last thing we see in the Series Finale just before the credits role.

I suspect we may see him fly earlier than the finale, although I doubt we'll see the proper Superman until the end of the finale.

I've honestly never watched this show (seemed to stray too much from the Supes I'm used to)...
He seriously can't fly yet?

Re: Smallville -- "Shield" -- 10/01/10
yeah he runs everywhere, really, really fast..
The show has done all sorts of flying but not really stuff. Jump/fall out of a plane, ride a rocket he has grabbed onto the side of.. Every now and then he jumps really high, in a straight line.. That's why one season's big show down fight was a *gasp* arc like "jump" that landed at a target location, but not flight!
but they show him on top of building a lot and so on.. oh and of course every single OTHER Kryptonian that shows up on earth masters flight in with a few seconds of being on the planet. One season had a scene where a bunch of Kryptonians sort of lip off at him, then they all fly off and he just stands there like "Awww crap!!".
Super girl shows, up, flys right away.. bad guys get superman like powers and they fly right away, but of course he never does..
the net rabble rabble has been that it's some contract limitation

Well, Lawson is now portrayed as white trash in the DCU, but I thought when I first saw him it was Jonah Hex as well. At least have the guy wear a mask.
As far as this Cat Grant goes, didn't she say she wasn't related to the one working at the TV station (it was an assumed name anyways), so they had last season's run in with the "real" Cat Grant covered?
I thought the overall episode was pretty lame. Lots of talky, talky, not much action. The show must be on a shoe-string budget now. It's kind of lame they only have 1 season to shoe-horn the rest of the Supes/DC legend into the story. So we get in this episode- references to Oliver Queen running for mayor, the anti-vigilante broadcaster Gordon Godfrey (where's Snapper Carr when you need him?), The Suicide Squad, etc, etc.
Geez, just have Clark fly already.

Yeah, this was a pretty poor episode. Although you have the Suicide Squad, it just seemed almost like filler content.

I strongly doubt we ever see more than 10 or 15 seconds of real flying this season. They are in the tenth season and have never allowed any sort of extended flying on the screen for Clark, even in a fantasy scenario or dream sequence. Superjumping does not count in my book. Contractual obligations with DC apparently limit much of what goes on that directly involves certain aspects of Superman's character. The lack of flying also helped keep the budget down on a show that was treated like a redheaded step-child by the CW for many years.

That closing shot with Clark with the greased up hair and the cheesy new jacket was hilariously bad.
Overall, pretty boring episode. Very talky. Deadshot was not a compelling villain at all. And I'm not sure where they are going with this Suicide squad arc.
to this incarnation of Cat Grant. ^^ Thanks for pointing out that this was actually a fake incarnation since she was briefly mentioned last season as a TV host. Plus, she has a kid and a crazy ex? Geez!
at Hawkman/Daniel Jackson for kissing Lois. Can she just get her butt back to Metropolis? The show is so much better when she and Clark are together.

You see, that is the kind of stupid shit that made me stop watching Smallville years ago.
I haven't read for a couple years but when I was reading "Secret Six" Deadshot was White trash, but he was clean cut and not a wanna be Cowboy out of costume.

He's done the take-out food thing a few times and running around with the flash kid. The ticket is just 'cover' stuff. But yeah it was silly how they tried to make it important.

I hope that glimpse is not the only shot of Shayera we're going to see this season.
And how awesome for us comic fans was it when you look at Plastique and the unknown guy go spring Deadshot out of jail, you remember that's Plastique, you hear the words "Suicide Squad" and then you just get a huge grin going:
FLAGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
