Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

If they would do the same for MGS2 and MGS3, I could get rid of my PS2 as well.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

It would be fantastic if they remastered these in hi def like the God of War collection. I almost finally started ICO the other day. I guess I might wait now.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I hope they have an option for OAR on this one. That's the one little thing I didn't like about the God of War collection, as those games were clearly designed for 4:3 (despite having widescreen options on the original PS2 discs). Some HUD elements were even stretched.

Of course, I can see that they've opened up the sides on that projected image. That's better than cropping, but I'd still like an OAR option. Especially for a game that keeps getting brought up as a rebuttal to the "video games can't be art" argument.

LOVE these games. I was lucky to find 2 Icos at a Pawn shop for $10 a few years ago. Bought one and not the other as why would I need 2? Didnt know the damn thing would become rare.

I at SotC in surround sound. I love that score!

I'd love a MGS collection that had MGS1, The VR Missions, MGS2: Substance, MGS3: Subsistance (with the cutscene movie disc and the 8-bit MG games). You could easily fit all of that on one Blu-Ray.

Awesome - I never got to play SotC and I wound up selling off my 60GB and was left with no way to play it.

I still have all those (except for Subsistance)

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I'd love to play Ico and SotC again since they came out in a period where I was not gaming much, so I barely checked them out. And add some trophy support for us Trophy whores.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I almost bought a PS2 just to play Shadow of the Colossus. Have never played either of these but I've heard so many good things that I'd be in for this collection. Maybe Sony would time the release of this to coincide with the release of the next game, The Last Guardian.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

Still haven't played Ico, but those that missed out on SOTC aren't missing out, unless Sony is dumping that game and putting another game called Shadow of the Colossus, in its place, in this collection.

It may have been good 5 years ago ("may" being the operative word here), but it's damn near unplayable in 2010.

I'm in the same boat. I remember SOTC having very rough controls, to the point where I gave up with it. But I'll be willing to give it another shot if this release is true.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I tried really hard to play Shadow of the Colossus when it came out and just couldn't get into it. The bad controls and poor frame rate didn't help at the time.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I've never played either, but I've always wanted to. This is a good enough reason.

Like others have said, I have a handful of PS2 games that if ported to PS3, I wouldn't worry about my 60GB hardware failing. Those are Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 (and maybe the already-ported Chain of Memories ) and Dragon Quest VIII (with DQVII from the PS1). Those are at least top-tier enough to maybe be considered.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

I went back and played SOTC a bit and didn't think it aged that bad. Still one of the best PS2 games I've ever played.

I love that a game released five years ago is a "classic"

Exactly how long ago does a game have to be released to be able to be called a classic?
Nevermind the fact that it is a game from the past generation of consoles.

Re: Ico & Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)

Count me in as someone who also loved Shadow of the Colossus. Never played Ico, but this is an instant buy.

In fact, this announcement finally frees me up to sell my old 60GB PS3 and upgrade to a Slim, because SotC was one of the very few games for which I wanted to keep backwards compatibility.
