Well, I've had the 3109 since feb 2000, and I have had zero problems with playback. But within the past two weeks, I have had severe pixilization and audio problems with robocop criterion(only in the second layer) and erin brokovitch(sic) either locks up at the layer change or plays thru it but the picture has terrible pixilization throughout the second layer. I've got about forty other titles and I haven't seen any other problems, except my wife said she had the same trouble with runaway bride.
Now I've done my dvdtalk search, and I have seen everyone talk about the firmware issues. My local service center told me it's firmware, which can only be fixed in atlanta. Now, toshiba has told me I can either send it in to them, and get a class b replacement(they only have refurb models available), or I can have it repaired and they will cover parts and labor(they extended the labor coverage from the original 90 days)
So...should I send it to atlanta for the fix, or try to get a replacement, or, should I fight to get a new 2200.
thanks in advance,
