I watched the entire series over the last week and enjoyed it immensely.
I don't know who I enjoyed seeing get their comeuppance more, Alfred or William

So what's the deal with streaming the last episode? I turned it on to watch the two hours last night but the only thing added was part 7 and it is just the normal hour? Are they waiting an extra week to stream the last episode?

Wonderful finale, imo. The ending was somewhat predictable, but had to happen. We got a bit more of a tease with Aliena
I may have shed a tear during the final shot -- good stuff.

I really enjoyed the series. I fell behind watching the episodes and watched the last 5 within a few days. I agree that the ending regarding Alfred and William was kinda obvious, but that's ok.
I read the book about 6 or 7 years ago and don't remember much of the details, but it seemed like they did a good job cramming a lot of material into the 8 hours. I'll tune in for the World Without End series, though I haven't read the book yet.

Did we ever get an answer on the Netflix thing? It would be the ultimate screwjob not to offer the last hour.
I just read the book about a month ago before I heard of the series and, I have to say, they did a pretty good job of bringing it to the screen. Sure some things were cut, condensed, changed (and the William/mom thing was just creepy), but I think the essence was captured well and all of the high points/low points are on the screen.

Loved it!
I was shocked how good this mini-series was, enjoyed the hell out of it!
Now I wonder if they will make another based on Ken's Sequel, World Without End?

Wow! I thought this was a really great miniseries. I have not read the book, and found the series engrossing, well-acted, and every episode had me wishing for more.
I think William got off really easy compared to all the bad things he did, and so too did the Bishop. I was somehow hoping William would get his balls cut off or something before he died.
This is one series where you easily find yourself REALLY despising the bad guys.

Interesting how they changed Waleran's fate ... the mini-series version was more cinematic, though some part of me prefers the book's version (he lives out the rest of his life in obscurity as a rank-and-file monk, realizing/living with the pain he has caused when he truly did believe he was performing God's will).

I enjoyed the series quite a bit, even though it was one hell of a downer for the first six eps or so.
Most of the cast did a pretty good job, particularly Hayley Atwell. Loved her as Alianna.

Were the characters in the book as completely one dimensional as they were in the series?

Sometimes. William knew he was cursed and feared damnation, but his mother and Waleran could easily goad him. He was pretty flat, though there were flashes of humanity. Walaran truly believed he was acting on God's will, not his own, and it took a fall for grace for him to see this and try to earn forgiveness by living a humble life.
