What am i doing wrong?

I have a Panasonic DVD player.When i watch my DVD'S, I hear more of the background than i do the actors talking. Did I set something up wrong or what. Please HELP.

Most likely you need to adjust your center channel. Go into the set up menu on your receiver and either lower the volume of the left and right speakers OR raise the volume of the center channel.

Your best bet is to use a setup disc like Avia or Video Essentials to properly calibrate your audio.

Also, depending upon the player there might be some setting you can do locally (as opposed to just in the receiver).

Personally, because of the poor location of my center speaker, I just turn the TV volume up and use that

I have this problem, and I don't have 5.1 yet. So is there a setting in the DVD player.

If the player is 5.1 ready, there should be an audio menu somewhere where you can make these adjustments. Although unless you play the DVD in 5.1 (as opposed to 2.0 stereo) I don't think it would make a difference Do you know what it usually does?

BTW before long I'm sure we'll have to look for this in the hardware forum
