So in other words your post is devoid of anything.
BioShock Infinite is a first-person shooter currently in development at Irrational Games, the studio behind the original BioShock (which sold over 4 million units worldwide). Set in 1912, BioShock Infinite introduces an entirely new narrative and gameplay experience that lifts players out of the familiar confines of Rapture and rockets them to Columbia, an immense city in the sky.
Former Pinkerton agent Booker DeWitt has been sent to rescue Elizabeth, a young woman imprisoned in Columbia since childhood. Booker develops a relationship with Elizabeth, augmenting his abilities with hers so the pair may escape from a city that is literally falling from the sky. DeWitt must learn to fight foes in high-speed Sky-Line battles, engage in combat both indoors and amongst the clouds, and harness the power of dozens of new weapons and abilities.
At least they're not just rehashing the first game, like the second game did. Since it's back in Irrational's hands now, maybe this one will be awesome, like the first one was. :p

I wonder how they'll deal with the concept of "plasmids" because, I think, those were actually created in Rapture. Wouldn't really be Bioshock if you don't shock your biological makeup. Clearly the chick there had some sort of power at her control.

A lot of people liked it. I thought it was a middling rehash of the first game. The only interesting addition was the concept of defending a Little Sister while she harvests. Other than that it was just more of the same. It's worth a rental IMO.

It felt like it would have been better as an expansion honestly. It just didn't feel like a full retail game. That said, it was still excellent but as said earlier it just didn't have the wonderment of going through rapture for the first time.

Yes, it was hard to go back and play the first because the gameplay was improved for the second game. And 2 did have some wonderful new pieces in it. The Big Daddy had some great unique abilities and I really enjoyed the exploration of the relationship between them and the Little Sisters.
Still, glad to see this series move to a new setting. With that trailer alone they've made the history of the universe so much more interesting.

Well, since Bioshock is really the only FPS I've been interested in this gen, is there this much whining in Halo/Call of Duty threads? Or is it just one of those internet things.. where everyone whines about everything? Those games are generic as fuck (though with a sci-fi setting I would assume Halo has more interesting locales, though I've never seen them and I've seen a lot of Halo 2 and 3) and, with Call of Duty, it gets released every fucking year. Why the hostility towards ONE return to Rapture? Everything gameplay wise was drastically improved in Bioshock 2, in my opinion and the setting was still cool as hell.
Edit: Er, maybe not this thread as a whole, just on BS2 in general.

My big beef with the sequel is that everything was wrapped up so well at the end of the first game. The first game did a lot of unique and interesting things in terms of storytelling and setting, and it told a complete story. The original devs felt no need to make a direct sequel, so the publishers found a new developer to do so. The second game felt like it was shoehorned into the original game's storyline, had no real innovation, and rehashed a lot of the ideas from the first game. That sort of thing is expected in an annualized, generic sort of series like Call of Duty (and, to be fair, even the first Modern Warfare game did some very creative things with perspective and story), but BioShock felt like a special game to me, whereas the sequel felt like a shameless cash grab.
The game itself was fine in terms of gameplay, but I didn't care for the plot or the fact that it was basically the first game all over again with one new idea and a bunch of cosmetic changes. I have no problem giving praise when praise is due, but I did not care for BioShock 2.

Bioshock 1's focus on atmosphere and environment in the new world of Rapture was one of it's biggest strengths, but it was also to Bioshock 2's detriment. I think the reaction to Bioshock 2 shows how much of the praise for Bioshock 1 was related to the world they created and less on the actual gameplay. I thought that many of the levels in Bioshock 2 were better than the first, but i have to agree with others, the newness of Rapture had worn off. It didn't make Bioshock 2 a bad game, but they did spend too much time retreading the same material IMO.
(though with a sci-fi setting I would assume Halo has more interesting locales, though I've never seen them and I've seen a lot of Halo 2 and 3)
You assume wrong, IMO the worst part of Halo is it's locales. I've always found the environments in Halo to be sparse and uninteresting. They remind me of the 3d wallpapers people used to make years ago.

I love the Bioshock series. Hate the name of the new game. Hopefully that will be changed. They should have left out the multi-player in BS2 and hopefully will keep it out of the new game. Some games are best left as single player experiences.

This new one looks pretty good but....I hope it doesn't lose the dark feel of the first two. It's going to be very interesting to see what they do.
As for people bashing the Bioshock 2.....why? It improved on everything from the first with a tad exception to the story (but that was inevitable anyway). I've said it a million times, the gameplay from the first bioshock had some many outdated elements (FETCH MISSIONS) that it really took away from a higher rating.....from me anyway. Bishock 2 was not as long as 1 for a reason...there was barely any backtracking in it at all.

If the return had been interesting, instead of being tied to a thoroughly stupid plot with annoying characters, I wouldn't have complained. And the gameplay was not "drastically" improved. It was incrementally improved, certainly not enough to make up for the boring and annoying plot.

His issue isn't that it isn't appropriate. His issue is that it seems that black people get a free pass. It is funny that they're tackling a xenophobic and racist society but it's not PC to show that they happen to also be raciist towards blacks. It's just an interesting observation.

First of all, I wouldn't judge the game on 10 minutes of footage. There may well be black people in other parts of the game.
Second, I'm not going to try to second-guess Ken Levine's vision for the game -- if it turns out he didn't include black people in the game, perhaps he did so for a reason related to what he's trying to do with the game, not because he's afraid of being un-PC.
Third, if black people do have a pass, it ain't a free pass -- they paid a lot for their pass. ;)

Played the first and it's a classic. Didn't grab the second...jusdt too much going on and too many games but this one is something. It did win many awards and kinda got overshadowed by GOW3, COD and BF3 but it looks to be a winner. The sound on this will be unreal.

Hmm looks cool. Also apparently in one of the earlier gameplay videos the woman on the record player was singing a Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears for Fears albeit in a manner more appropriate for 1912 than the 80's original. strange things a foot but definitely looking forward to this one!

there could be more to it since mind you that was showtimes. As we all know by the time it was released the proper title was a known thing. I've seen early movie posters using this name but for it to appear on the marquee implies it's not "our" 1983 just like it wasn't "our" 1912.

BioShock Infinite Delayed to 2013 (http://kotaku.com/5908814/bioshock-infinite-delayed-to-2013)
This fall's much-anticipated BioShock Infinite will now be released in February 26, 2013, publisher Take Two announced this morning.
The game had been planned for an October release.
"When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing. Since then, we've uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more extraordinary," the game's creative director Ken Levine said in a press release announcing the delay this morning. "Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we ve decided to move the game's release to February."
Michael Corvin

Gears of War Dev Joins BioShock Infinite Team
Rod Fergusson moves to Irrational.
ormer Epic Games director of production Rod Fergusson has joined Irrational Games. Fergusson himself confirmed the news on Twitter, writing “Yes it's true, I'm leaving my family at Epic to join my new family at Irrational in Boston starting tomorrow. And yes I've played Infinite and it's amazing! Can't wait for you guys to get your hands on it.”
While Fergusson’s formal title hasn’t been revealed, he’s presumably replacing director of product development Tim Gerritsen who departed Irrational yesterday. Gerritsen’s responsibilities included “overseeing the product development division of the company,” reporting progress to corporate, negotiating contracts, hiring and recruitment.
Meanwhile, reports from Kotaku suggest that two multiplayer modes originally planned for BioShock Infinite have been canceled, including one that involved fighting waves of toys inside of an arcade machine, and another that offered a co-op option for completing missions. News of both comes from sources allegedly within Irrational, though creative director Ken Levine simply commented “As I've always said we are experimenting with things, and only if they are good enough will we put them in the game” when asked.

BioShock Infinite Will Have Reversible Box Art
Vote for your favorite.
Irrational has announced that BioShock Infinite will have reversible box art. After the game’s box art was shown off earlier this month, some fans weren't impressed and Irrational is now letting them vote for what they’d like to see on the other side.
“We want to hear your voice on what that cover should be,” creative director Ken Levine said in a blog post on Irrational’s official site. “To that end, we’ve arranged a poll below that lets you choose from several potential reversible covers. I’ve got my favorite, but I’m not telling which. We’ve got to do this quickly to meet our print deadlines, so vote soon. Like, NOW!”
Levine added that Irrational is “also going to be arranging a whole mess of MORE alternate covers which will be available to download and print yourself,” and they’ll be available for free.
Have a favorite cover? Vote for it on Irrational’s site.

BioShock Infinite Goes Gold
Mark March 26th on your calendar in ink.
Irrational Games has announced that BioShock Infinite has gone gold. In a blog post on the studio’s official site, creative director Ken Levine wrote “I’m happy to announce that the game has gone gold. What that means is that it has been approved by both Sony and Microsoft (and the PC Gods, natch) to be sent to the manufacturing guys to load up fleets of trucks with BioShock Infinite and be driven to a store near you on March 26th.”
Levine added that “when we first announced BioShock Infinite, we made a promise to deliver a game that was very much a BioShock experience, and at the same time something completely different. And our commitment to making good on that promise, no matter what, has been our driving force for the last three years or so. You, the fans, have been incredibly patient with us. You shared your hopes and wishes for the game with us, and you kept the faith.”
“Nobody has ever built a game quite like this,” Levine continues. “It’s a shooter, but a shooter that brings you to very uncomfortable and dangerous places. I can’t demand that you play the game; I can promise you, however, that once you have, it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.”
Preordered the standard edition in BB last Monday. This and the new Gears of War games may be the last "new" games I buy this generation. At least at the $60 price.

I wouldn't call it a cash grab. And a lot, some?, of the programmers for the fist game were transferred to the new team that developed Bioshock 2.

I didn't think BS2 did anything stellar at all. Minivera's Den is great, however I think it just had the benefit of following up a mediocre sequel with story and gameplay that should have been in BS2 proper.

There's so many preorder deals for the PC version, I think i'm going to cave in and order it on PC.
Green Man Gaming has an interesting bundle deal going on for BioShock Infinite. You can either go with $15 credit, a $14 cash back (basically making the game $45.99), AND choose from 5 game bundles of your choice. All bundles includes Bioshock 1, with your additional choice of either Spec Ops: The Line, Civilization V, BioShock 2, Mafia II, or The Darkness II.
Amazon has a new deal on BioShock Infinite where they offer two $15 2K game download credits - one within two days of purchase and the other the day after the game's March 25 release. The game itself is at list price.
And then Steam is unlocking stuff based on number of pre-orders, first giving you Bioshock, then some TF2 items, and if there are enough pre-orders you can get X-Com.
I'd do the Steam one if I knew I could get X-Com, otherwise the Green Man Gaming one seems interesting so I can get Civ 5. Agh.

Isn't it time we report on games that DON'T have a season pass?

I refuse to purchase a season pass. "We promise it'll be hours more gameplay, we promise it won't suck!" Bullshit.

Games like Bioshock should not have a season pass or DLC. I should be able to get the story beginning to end with my $60.

You will get a story from beginning to end. DLC is additional material, not the ending to the main story.

Pre-order a season pass?
What's next? Pre-ordering a sequel before the 1st game comes out? -ohbfrank-

Season passes are stupid. Wait til the reviews on the DLC before you fork down the cash. It might cost a bit more but at least you're not paying for stupid and/or useless shit.

It doesn't even cost more to wait. Season passes don't disappear when the game or even the DLC is released, and in fact they frequently go on sale.

Yeah, but now they are offering pre-order incentives/bonuses for Season Passes.... crazy!
