Top 10 highest grossing CG Animated films
It's Bored With Excel Tuesday in Hokeyland!
Note: Toy Story 3 is still in general release, as is Shrek Forever After. TS3 is expected to clear well over $900m internationally when all is said and done, so it will undoubtedly advance. Shrek, not so much.
Included is domestic, international, and worldwide totals, both in unadjusted and in adjusted-for-inflation dollars. THIS IS NOT TICKETS SOLD OR ATTENDANCE. Just sheer dollars. So if you wanna start screaming about 3D prices skewing the values, go pound sand.

Some observations on this most obsessive exercise:
- The Ice Age movies are big blockbusters in North America. Internationally they are UNBELIEVABLY GINORMOUSLY HUGE BLOCKBUSTERS.
- Toy Story 3 will end up #4, POSSIBLY #3 on the Adjusted Worldwide list.
- Worldwide average adjusted grosses per studio:
- PIXAR - $733m
- DW - $593m
- BLUE SKY - $570m
- Lowest adjusted worldwide grossing film per studio:
- PIXAR - Cars - $540m
- DW - Antz - $275m
- BLUE SKY - Robots - $317m
- "Cars" is the most profitable PIXAR release in terms of total revenue streams. Between 2006 and 2008, "Cars" generated over $5 BILLION in licensed merchandise alone. You wanna know why there's gonna be a "Cars 2" next year? Now you know. It's a ridiculously profitable means of printing free money for Disney/Pixar. And I really liked "Cars", for the record.
- PIXAR does not top any of the 6 charts.
- "Flushed Away" was only distributed by Dreamworks, and wasn't included in these calculations.
- I need a life. Seriously.

Re: Top 10 highest grossing CG Animated films
I had absolutely no idea the Ice Age movies were so big overseas. And it's interesting that Pixar hasn't claimed the top spot on any of these six charts. Not surprising, necessarily...just interesting. Is there any kind of correlation between box office performance and, say, success at the Academy Awards? For instance, could you determine that for every $X million at the box office, a CGI movie is likely to be nominated for so many awards, or for $Y million, to win?
You know, in case that getting a life thing doesn't pan out and you want to keep going with this.

I just don't understand the love for Finding Nemo. I think it's the worst CG animated story plot. Maybe it's because I can't stand Ellen Degeneres.

What's a cast member got to do with the plot? As for the plot itself, I thought it was pretty solid. I can't think of a more basic, universal premise than the desperate search for a lost child. For my money, they did it far better with this story than, say, Taken.

oh..hahahahahaha...have you not seen The Shreks yet eh? It's a basic universal plot. While it's the 2nd least favorite of Pixar flicks..it's not bad. I just...don't dig it too much

Coincidentally, I am watching the first two for the first time as we type. They are much better than I expected, but I much prefer Pixar stuff for the most part.

Were these prices adjusted for inflation, CPI-U, movie ticket inflation, or what other number?
How does $ earned compare to IMDB / Metacritic scores?
So much left to do.

I don't! I enjoyed the first Ice Age, but lost interest in all the subsequent sequels. I really need to watch those one day.

Outside of Pixar's offerings the Ice Age flicks aren't bad. I enjoyed the original Madagascar as well.

I've only seen the first Ice Age. It was alright, but nothing that ever compelled me to see its sequels. As for Madagascar, we started watching that one night and had to stop about 40 minutes into it because of a storm. That was some time last year, and I've made no effort to resume the movie since. It wasn't bad, per se; it just did nothing for me.
