"Poltergeist" and "Fargo" re-releases ??

I see both are scheduled to be re-released within the next few weeks. Why? I already have both. Are they special editions? Other?

Poltergeist is the non digibook version

Fargo is likely adding a DVD inside.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm very happy with my copy of "Poltergeist". Great PQ. "Fargo" could be better. Probably the same transfer....right?

I hate the Digibook packaging and am glad some things are being re-released in regular blu cases.

I see no reason why they'd redo the transfer.

I prefer the digibook but it would be nice if they offered both upon release.

You can find the Fargo BD/DVD combo disc at Best Buy. They've had it for several weeks now. They also have the Carrie combo disc. That's scheduled for 9/14 along with a few other Fox/MGM combo re-releases.

These are in the BD case.

Which DVD? The original flipper from the birth of DVD or the SE from years later?

As I was typing this, I just realized that I could just buy a two-disc case, purchase Carrie on BD when it drops below $10 and just throw my DVD into it.

No idea. Probably whatever MGM has lying around. I forgot about two releases...may have to wait till someone else buys it to confirm what DVD copy is inside.

I would guess it's the SE disc. The old flipper disc is OOP. MGM re-issued only a standard version a few years back. I don't think they'd put that one in there.

Didn't Spaceballs have the old Flipper with the BD? That's why I'm unsure. The old flipper was discontinued several years before.

The Spaceballs BD did have all the dvd extras, so maybe that's why they included the old disc.

Yes, the DVD included with Spaceballs was the original barebones flipper disc, which had a "full frame" transfer on one side and a non-anamorphic letterbox transfer on the other. MGM must have had a bunch of those discs sitting in a warehouse that they needed to get rid of. The DVD was not the later Collector's Edition remaster.

However, the Blu-ray disc itself had most of the supplements from the Collector's Edition on it.

What's wrong with digibooks ? I love 'em. I have the Clash Of The Titans (the true 1980s version) one and my brother has the Charlie And The Chocolate Factory one. They're really cool. You get the movie as well as a little book that tells about the movie.

It's at Best Buy. They've been getting in these MGM combo packs several weeks before everyone else. Carrie's combo pack has a street date of 9/14, but it's at BB now. I think it's 16.99.

I believe there's several more BD combo pack releases set for 9/14 from MGM.

I think you mean Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory. The Tim Burton remake isn't available on Blu-ray yet (though it was released on HD DVD).
