I'm still waiting for Kenan and Kel & Malcolm In The Middle Season 1 to be released as HMV has being saying it will since November.

Clownhouse (1988) - This was set for release twice (August 26, 2003 and August 24, 2004) and both times it was delayed and later canceled. Lots of copies managed to flood the market (via Amazon.com, Amazon Marketplace, etc.) after the 2004 date fell through - I don't think any copies squeaked through in 2003 - but technically it was never officially released. Almost certainly, the Victor Salva/Nathan Forest Winters scandal had something to do with this. I guess MGM thought they could squeak the title by without it making a blip on the radar?

Jonathan Mostow said there was going to be another edition of Terminator 3 with a much longer behind the scenes documentary since the 1st release was rushed out. But, that never happened.
I don't know if Darren Lynn Bousman was joking, but I thought he mentioned there was going to be another release of Saw IV on his commentary track.
The old ABC series One and Again had a release date for season 3 (the final season) with artwork and everything and then it was pulled and never heard from again.

There was a planned Too Close For Comfort season 3 DVD...announced on tvshowsondvd.com and cover art and all...and scrapped. I keep hoping Shout Factory will release the rest of the series. It wasn't essential TV, but it's a childhood favorite.
Speaking of favorites from my youth announced but never released...Get a Life. I don't know if there was ever an official press release on it or anything, but Chris Elliot said he had recorded bonus features for a complete series set so we know it was in the planning stages at one point, and somewhat announced by Chris Elliot.

Re: DVDs that were announced but never released.
When I worked in retail I would order copies of this all the time from our "one stop" distributor. I dont think this was ever officially recalled, as this was not hard to find for the longest time and most companies would drop any title that had been deleted. Horrible movie, by the way.

16x9 Widescreen? I've got a dvd-r I made from a pre-recorded vhs that was out there in the '90s. The one that got cancelled was coming from the company that went under and Scorpion picked up a lot of the cancelled titles they were going to release. I believe Kingdom of the Spiders was one that got cancelled and then picked up by Scorpion. Still holding out that Nightmare in Wax gets picked up. If the Mill Creek is 16x9 I'll pick it up.
