VCD PROBLEMS ON DVD PLAYER--HELP!

Usually vcds I buy from asia work fine on my dvd player but I have some music vcds that just won't play.
IS there anyway I can configure my dvd player differently (at the menu screen) or if I use my dvd-rom can I download any software that could possibly play my vcds?
Anyone have any similar problems ? any solutions ?
