Meh. I like some of that trailer but I get a DTV vibe outta it as well. Consider me ambivalent.

Looks interesting. I'm sure I'll see it.
Would love to see the Australian movie industry make a return. In the late 70's/early 80's, Australia released so many critically acclaimed movies. And these were some of my favorites:
"Mad Max"
"My Brilliant Career"
"Tim"
"Breaker Morant"
"The Chain Reaction"
"Gallipoli"
"The Road Warrior"
"Lonely Hearts"
"The Man From Snowy River"
"Starstruck"
"We of the Never Never"
"The Year of Living Dangerously"
"Careful, He Might Hear You"

Blind purchased this and just watched it. Thought it was just o.k. No where near as intense as the trailer. Nice little film, but nothing great. Decent rental at best. The cinematography is fantastic though.

Finally saw this thing. It'd been on my list and I was in an Aussie mood. Amazon had it on sale.
Soooo... it's fucking good. Hell of a debut by Patrick Hughes (he did EX3 afterwards... but whatever).
Now.. we've seen a story like this a lot. I'd almost swear I've seen the same damn gist of it in several. Minor tweaks here and there that totally make it more unique. Being an Aussie flick being a big part of it.
Just the rollout of the whole thing is so entertaining. It's got a kick to it that is so damn fresh almost. A brutality that isn't exploitative but it hurts seeing it. Just a damn good western. Great cast w/ great dialogue and delivery of it all.
Also... I'm amazed the wife wasn't in it more cuz once shit got rolling I thought she'd fall into cliche damsel w/ her state and all. But nope. She was there and when she was she mattered. Loved the last bit w/ her. Seem that stupid but earnest thing that men do to hide the troubles from his wife. The way Kwanten played his character throughout just earned him that believability so damn well.
I love the whole tweak that the Aussies play w/ genre. Just by... their Aussie nature. Those fucking cool c unts.
It's $5.46 from a vendor at Amazon, prime and all. I got it from a vendor. The movie is totally worth that price.
