I'm cautiously optimistic. Anyone know how this "definitive director's cut" will differ from the director's cut DVD?

Hopefully it'll keep the extended ending of the "director's expanded edition" and it's exclusion of the Clannad song (which Mann was apparently forced to add to the theatrical cut) but with all the footage (and the original cut of the final fight) that was present in the theatrical cut.

Not a big fan of many of these changes. I realize often directors are forced to cut footage to keep a film at a marketable length. Too often though the DC is used as a marketing gimic to double dip. I find it's generally a 50/50 chance I'll prefer the original theatrical.

So this is going to be a third cut of the movie? Somewhere between the theatrical and directors cut previously released?

I'm curious as to what Mann tinkers with now. I also wish they had the theatrical cut at least in this edition, but I guess they won't be doing that. I wonder if any releases abroad will have the theatrical cut released on BD.

Yeah, I like the Clannad song too...I wish they'd just include all the versions. Like they did with Terminator 2 (or at least it has 3 or 4 versions! Is that all of them?)

Just got done watching this, and it was fantastic. I cannot recommend this disc enough. There's also a great 42-minute making of doc (which I'm pretty sure is brand new for this release) in HD.

It's been a while since I've seen this movie, so I'm not too keen on the differences between the theatrical cut and the director's cut. But from what I can tell, the ending is the same as the theatrical cut, and the Clannad song has been added back in.

Sold! I'll need to go to Best Buy and pick this up on release day. Amazon isn't indicating release day delivery, so off to the store I go for instant gratification.

Hmm, there's some unflattering screencaps over at AVS that shows this release as being overly dark, especially compared to the HDTV version. To anyone who's seen it do those look accurate?
