Lionsgate halloween horrror Blu-Ray announcements
Didn't see any of these mentioned anywhere.
Lionsgate will be releasing some Horror Flicks on Blu-Ray on 10-5 and retail is only $19.99.
Hard Candy
Open Water
Open Water 2: Adrift
High Tension
2001 Maniacs (YAY!, right around the same time as the sequel, which I don't think is getting a BR release BOO!)
The Blair Witch Project (hopefully it's real 1.33:1 and not that windowboxed crap we got on DVD)

They are also releasing Wonderland, Bad Lietenant & Secretary on 10-5. I will be down for all of them except Open Water 1+2 which I just don't have any interst for.

Is it possible for Blair Witch to look any better? Wasn't it shot on cheap camcorders?

Definitely getting Hard Candy, High Tension & Blair Witch.
If I remember correctly, part of it was shot on a camcorder, but the other part was shot on film. (The woman in the movie was filming on video while the camera guy was filming on B&W 16mm.)
So about half the movie will look better.

Definitely in for Hard Candy and 2001 Maniacs.
I'm happy with my UK Blu-Ray of Haute Tension, so I'm going to stick to that.
I hope 2001 Maniacs comes with the Director's Cut of the film I keep hearing about.

Damn, Hard Candy and High Tension in the same month?! Both of those easily fit in my roster of favorite contemporary horror flicks. Add Criterion's release of Hausu and you've got yourself a pretty killer HD Halloween this year.

Kind if a dissapointing list for my money. I was hoping for some older catalog titles. I also don't know how much something like Blair Witch would benefit from a Blu Ray.

Kind of a -meh- list, actually.
I already have Secretary, Open Water, High Tension, Hard Candy, and BWP on standard DVD, and none of those seem to have enough replay value to warrant an upgrade.

While 'better' is a subjective term, Blair Witch could definitely look more authentic if they went back to the original source for the Blu-Ray. The camcorder footage was converted from video to film for the theatrical release, and this film-converted version is what was transferred to the DVD. This takes away some of that videotaped 'realism'.

Already have the Australian Hard Candy, but if the US disc looks better I'll grab it.

Will definitely pick up High Tension - the rest I don't like or don't like enough to upgrade to blu-ray...and Hard Candy is a movie I thought was well done but have no desire to see ever again.

Never got around to buying Blair Witch on DVD even though I love the movie. So I'm definately in for that one.
