Madden NFL 11 - 08.10.2010 (PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360, iPhone)
Always look forward to picking up the new Madden game every year (this year it comes out on my birthday!). I buy it for the PSP now. It's the only system I have.
I didn't see a thread started for Madden NFL 11 so I thought I'd start one.
Gus Johnson will be doing the play-by-play on the game this year. Cris Collinsworth will still be the color commentator.
I play the PSP version and I'd like to see TD celebrations after I score a TD and show them in the huddle before they're about to do the next play. I'd like it to be more like the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions with showing the players coming out and all that.

I used to buy a football game (either Madden or Gameday) every single year, but that eventually got old. It seems like I'm now at about one every five years, and the last one I bought was Madden '06 (and '01 before it).
So, I'm really thinking about picking it up this year, especially because I'm pretty excited about the upcoming season for the Falcons. They've made some improvements, and there's no way they can go two seasons in a row with half the D starters injured, right?
I'll wait for reviews, but it's been a while and I can feel the itch. Is there supposed to be anything interesting for this year's version? And is the exclusive deal ever going to end? Also, go Falcons.

I usually go every other year, although 08 was the last one I got. Usually when you wait a year or two (or 5....) you have some pretty good new features, compared to the roster updates that seem to be the only thing new sometimes from one year to the next. I have a Wii and PS2, but I think I'll get the game on the PS2, I've only played Madden 09 on the Wii (borrowed the game) and wasn't very impressed. I find the PS2 more exciting for football games than the Wii. Just can't afford/justify the PS3 yet.
Bestbuy has 500 reward zone bonus points ($10) if you preorder it or buy it the week it releases at their store, so it makes the PS2 version essentially $30, not too bad, sure beats the $50 I used to pay for it when it came out.
I'm a Steelers fan, so I'm hoping the Falcons at least start slow for the first week of the season..... Go Leftwich, or Batch, or Dixon.......oh my, gonna be a rough first 4 games of the year (hopefully just 4).

I'm looking forward to having Mendenhall on the Steelers in Madden as I haven't got Madden the last 2 years when since he's been with them.

I buy Madden every year except for 05 when I bought 2k (it was cheaper, had better graphics and was overall better). This year is no different. First day purchase, usually a party that day as well. This year will be extra fun because Im getting a new TV to go with it.

Amazon's offering their $20 video game credit if you pre-order the game.
If you have Prime they offer free release day delivery too.

Gamestop had a deal (ended yesterday, 7/18) where you could trade in two selected titles towards a $40 credit towards Madden 11. There's always a possibility that a store could still run the deal a day or two late.
The list is here: http://www.gamestop.com/gs/specialty.../save40madden/

Chad Ochocinco has received his copy from EA already. Good idea. Get them into the hands of players who can afford it, not game reviewers.

Yuck...from those ratings, my favorite team (the Steelers) is going to suck big time on Madden.
I'm not looking forward to this season...I think they're bound for 8-8.

ESPN NFL 2K5 is still the greatest football game I've ever played.

The ending vid if you win the Superbowl. Sorry Jags fans! (PS - Can you spot the big error at the end? Hint: this presentation is for the winning team of Superbowl XLV.)

If you're referring to the jersey number being 44 instead of 45, I'm not sure if that's a mistake because Obama got a #44 jersey from the Steelers in 2009 too. I think it was referring to him being the 44th president.

I'm actually glad the Steelers are rated lower on Madden, I always play my franchises with them and its more of a challenge when I'm not playing with one of the highest rated teams.
Now if they'd just roll with Dixon isn't of Leftwich to start the season, I'd be happier.

Yeah the $20 credit was appealing enough to get me to pre-order as well. I had existing credit anyway.
I hope Gus Johnson says "He's got 'running away from the cops' speed!!!!!" at some point.

Has anybody played the PSP versions in the past? I was thinking of getting it on that this year for a change of pace. (Amazon has a $10 credit for that version.)

I played the demo....I thought it was pretty good. Not sure how I like using the D-pad to adjust the linemen and what not. Also, no turbo is taking time to get used to. I continue to hold down the top trigger even though it does nothing.
The Gameflow seems ok.....it basically dumbs down the game in my opinion. Although, I tried choosing my play and the gameclock seem to go fast on me.
