If Grindhouse didn't flop, this would've been the sequel's main feature!

Looks cool. Looks fun.
The trailer makes it look a bit less serious than the two Grindhouse movies. Hmmm. How does that come across? The Grindhouse movies were very ... referential. But, they seemed to play it straight. Black Dynamite looks like it'd be a bit more comedic. But, it's always hard to tell from trailers.
From what I can see, nobody picked it up yet. I'd like to see it get at least a limited release; not just straight-to-DVD.
I Google'd 'black dynamite' and quite a few sites mention it. Hopefully it's just a matter of time till someone buys it up.

I remember seeing the regular trailer a few days ago. Looks like they replaced it with the redband version.

That was unbelievable! It's like someone went inside of my brain and made exactly the kind of movie I want to see. And unlike Grindhouse, it actually looks like it was made during the 70s.

You would think that the Weinsteins would pick up some of these grindhouse homages and release them as Direct-2-DVD sequels of sort to Grindhouse, I know that Grindhouse sold well on DVD and with the Brothers Weinstein more or less owning the Grindhouse moniker they could make good bank on them like BCI is doing with the Welcome To The Grindhouse/Explotation Cinema line.

This movie looks awesome . (And it's somewhat funny that a spoof is one of the few US made movies with an actual martial artist pulling off the martial arts. (White has a nice collection of earned black belts))

I have a feeling this will be kind of cool (like Planet Terror) but will ultimately be disappointing (like Original Gangstas). The mere fact that Tommy Davidson is involved makes me think of I'm Gonna Get You Sucka which is, last I checked, a mediocre comedy with a few memorable scenes.

Holy shit, you had me at Michael Jai White before I even saw the trailer. Looks amazing, and had a great Dolemite/Disco Godfather feel to it.

Re: Black Dynamite
It got picked up by Sony Pictures for about 2 Million. It will be released in the second half of 2009 after a big marketing campaign: http://thefilmstage.com/2009/01/19/b...p-at-sundance/

Holy shit, I nearly stopped breathing in the 2nd half of this.
Plus, check the 1:26-1:27 mark when he stands up from his desk!

I really want to see this, but I fear a Snakes on a Plane type path for it. The internets will all go apeshit for it, but then no one will go see it.

$30m on a $2m feature would be a huge success.
