Pearl Jam going on indefinite hiatus?

According to NME, during Pearl Jam's set at Lisbon's Optimus Alive festival last night, Vedder told the audience, "Thank you for coming to our last show. Not our last ever, but our last in a long time."

Sucks to hear. I haven't caught Pearl Jam in 3 or 4 years and they always put on a fantastic show.

I bet it'll only be a 3 or 4 year hiatus like the Chili Peppers after "Stadium Arcadium".

^Are the Chili Peppers doing anything right now? I hadn't heard of anything since Stadium.

They've been in the studio a few times in the last year and reportedly have 20 or so songs in demo form. Album is expected in the first half of 2011.

That seems like a long time for a band this long in the tooth. I'd rather see them soldier on now and retire at a decent age for a rock band.

In four years, Eddie Vedder will be 50.

Re: Pearl Jam going on indefinite hiatus?

Pearl Jam is one of my favorite bands and while I'd like them to tour and record new albums I understand they need to take time off to be with family and have personal time. Hopefully they'll come back better than ever! I really need to see them sometime though they're one of the top bands I really want to see in concert someday.

I have mixed feelings on a Chili Peppers album without Frusicante. Hopefully it turns out decent though.

Never take anything Ed says TOO literally, people....

http://blogs.seattleweekly.com/rever...ys_eddie_1.php

But despite the ominous proclamation, longtime Pearl Jam publicist Nicole Vandenberg tells us in an email that it's nothing serious. "He says that at the end of all tours, because the tour has ended. The remark may have gotten a little lost in translation."
He probably just meant they won't be playing anymore shows this year, OR maybe they won't make it back to Europe specifically for a couple years....

Or take a year off, hang out with family and friends while coming up with songs for the next album, which will take another six months to produce and get into the stores.

In a related story, Creed has also announced a hiatus to begin a couple years from now.

Yeah he left sometime late last year I think. To put more work into his solo career was the reasoning I believe.

Re: Pearl Jam going on indefinite hiatus?

Hopefully this hiatus gives them the time to do the catalog remasters they said they would release last/this year.

Re: Pearl Jam going on indefinite hiatus?

What? Vedder had twins, is taking a hiatus because of Aphids that were released by Frusicante Peppers?

What the hell are you all talking about?

You mean, to get back to shooting heroin, right?
