I saw this one ep after I stopped watching around Summer of '06, and I enjoyed it...need to catch up again. The only sad part: Mike and Sean are still idiots.

Last weeks episode already has me worried that we are in for more season 4 level ambiguity. Hopefully this one is a step up.

Not terribly impressed with the new season, thus far. After 24's mid-season 180, I'll give this some leeway, but I'd had to see such an important series limp out the door.
It seems to be missing much of the fire, pardon the pun, that made it an important series. Right now it seems to be trying to hard to find this new footing upon which it wants the season to be based. I'm crossing my fingers this aspect will be over soon.

IMO this show really misses Jack McGee.

And, according to Tolan, he'll be back as one of the ghosts on "Rescue Me."

Probably never.

McGee says he wasn’t even told by Leary that his character would commit suicide -- that duty was left to other producers on the show. And after McGee filmed his final scene, Leary walked away “without saying a word.” McGee also speculates that Dean Winters, who played Johnny Gavin, was written out of the show because he was not suitably deferential to Leary.
“He's a bully, is what he is,” McGee says. “Bullies most of the time don't have the guts to do things themselves.”
He also blasts Leary as being an egomaniac, which is a real shocker to anyone who’s ever grown tired of the idea that we should find Gavin’s endless self-absorption (not to mention women’s insatiable attraction to him) amusing, or even remotely realistic.
“The promos are all him -- you'd think there was nobody else on the show,” McGee said. “His persona would make you think he's straight up, he's honest and he's forthright. But I never got an indication of that. The truth is, if he knocked on my door right now, I'd be able to look him right in the eye. I don't know if he could do that.”

Enjoyable. I just wish I felt like it was going somewhere. I'm pretty sure we've done the whole "turn over a new leaf" thing before.
Still, I enjoy the interactions of the guys in the firehouse. Sean always makes me laugh.

meh. the only good part of the episode was when Franco was talking to Tommy seriously on the porch and then casually mentions he's leaving to go and try to get laid before work.

Is there ANY chance this is still a dream state? I'm sure not but so much of it seems way too weird, like B and Franco walking around his house with no shirts on, etc. Just not quite gettin' it...

Man, season 6 is off to a really poor start. Way too much Tommy and the same re-hashed story-lines and not enough of the rest of the crew. My wife just officially bailed (she thought Season 5 was too repetitive) and more more ep like this and I'll be jumping ship too.

^^ You do know this is the last season? Although it's been split up into 2 parts (10 this year and 9 next year)

Yup. I'll probably finish it just because I've already invested so much watching the first 5 seasons. Sounds like I'm not the only one watching out of obligation.
