Re: my bro made an awesome indie drink mixing game
It'll be easier for us to check out if you tell us the name of your brother's game.
Edit : Found it. Nimble Strong Bartending. I'll check the demo, but $5 is kind of steep for an indie game on the iPhone, in fact I almost never buy any game for the iPhone at that price. Good luck to him though.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and take a shot in the dark, but I'm guessing it's called Nimble Strong.

From the video, graphically it looks great and looks like it could be fun. If I had an iphone I would download the demo and check it out. But thats a tough sell @ $5, especially when I saw that the "competitor's" game sells for only $1. I wish him luck though and hope the game brings him success!

Needs an Android version
Also, the demo video on the website is infuriating for two reasons:
- Hand-held camera. Tell them to re-do it with a tripod.
- The fast-clicking through all of the dialog. That tells me that the dialog is boring and unnecessary. The video should be edited down to just gameplay if that's what the developers want us to see.
It really does look like a fun game, though! Like I said, if there were an Android version, I'd be all over it.

So are you mixing real drinks, and have to know the recipes, or is this like Cooking Mama?

You make Gin & Tonic, Greyhound and Screwdrivers in the demo. Real drinks, but nothing unusual or exotic. It seems like an entertaining diversion, but I have to be honest -- he's going to have a hard time moving copies in the App Store at that price. It should have been $1.99 or $2.99 tops. It's not like $4.99 is a fortune, but for that price you'd expect a really special, professional game and no offense, but Nimble Soft Bartender isn't exactly in the same league as Real Racing or Carcassonne.

Personally, I have absolutely no problem with you hyping your brother's game. I think it's great to be proud of your sibling. I wish him success. It looks to be a well made game.

You realize now that you have edited your OP, you are now mentioning his competition by name (in CAPS, no less), but you still don't include the name of your brother's game? And I know someone mentioned it in the second post, but if someone just popped into the thread real quick looking for the name of the game, they might just see "BAR OASIS" in the first post and think that must be it.

Re: my bro made an awesome indie drink mixing game
good point, just changed it but i think it is better than bar oasis because it is faster gameplay and US made while bar oasis looks not as smooth. but its still weird that two games so similar came out at the same time

Finally, video games have a purpose.
I've been playing them for nearly three decades, and the number of applicable, real-world skills I've gleaned from them hovers right around zero. But now, after playing through the entirety of Nimble Strong on the iPhone, I have a working knowledge of cocktail making ... and a fancy certificate to prove it.
It's a clever idea, but a simple one: What if Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney really taught you the law ... and also was about drinking?
Nimble Strong: Bartender In Training
As a newbie bartender, you'll pass this bar exam (zing!) by learning how to blend the favorite drinks of a colorful cast of characters (like crusty bar owner Muskrat and the mysterious Conquistador). After a brief exchange of dialogue and a bit of guidance from each on their preferred poison, you're presented with an empty glass and a full selection of liquor, liqueurs, mixers and tools of the trade (shakers, spoons, etc.).
But it's not enough to select the right ingredients, you've got to have perfect timing to put just the right amount into each drink. For example, if the customer wants a Black Russian, you'll select the ice bucket and hold your finger on the pictured old-fashioned glass until ice just reaches the rim. Then you'll tap the e-liquor cabinet and add 2 oz. of vodka (hold on the screen for two seconds) and 1 oz. coffee liquor (one second) then serve. The better your mix (you get bonuses for perfect pours) and the faster you can mix up the drink, the bigger your tip. It won't just jangle in your e-pocket, though: you'll be able to use that cash to unlock the 75+ recipes that can be accessed outside the story mode.
Honestly, I'm hard-pressed to find much fault with Nimble Strong. Mixing drinks is a lot of fun, the Phoenix Wright-esque presentation is cute, and it's already led me to try making a few new adult beverages. I honestly felt more educated at the end, and how many games can you say that about? ... No, seriously, I'm asking. I can't remember any because I'm very, very drunk on cocktails.
Speaking of which, have I ever told you how much I love you? No ... no seriously! Why are you laughing?

Re: my bro made an awesome indie drink mixing game
Was just gonna post the same link as above.
Joystiq also gave it a 4.5/5
Now how about you have your brother make a version for the Android phones!

He got the review, now he just needs a special promo price of $1.99 for a week and it should be number one in the App Store in no time.
