Menace II Society Diector's Cut

I watched the Menace II Society Director's Cut and there were 2 scenes I don't remember being in the original but maybe I just didn't remember them.
Spoiler:
I don't remember the scene with Caine throwing up and saying he hadn't shat in a week after getting out of jail. And at the end, I remember fade to black then the monologue right after they show the overturned Big Wheel, but they show the aftermath with Stacey and O-Dog peeling Caine off the kid on the Blu Ray.

Were these scenes in the theatrical cut?
Thanks

Re: Menace II Society Diector's Cut

Here are the differences between the dvd and the criterion laserdisc:

Spoiler:
An extra shot of bullets leaving the back of the guy 'Samuel L Jackson' kills.
An extra shot of Awax holding the gang member while he shoots him.
A small scene showing how Caine and O Dog break into the car in the garage.
Two extra shots of bullet wounds during the final scene.
It also includes two deleted scenes, the funeral of Caines cousin and a scene at his grandparents house after the funeral..

Here is also something of interest :

The Hughes brothers, when queried about the film's explicit content, have often talked about a "prison riot" scene that studio execs forced them to cut in order to avoid an NC-17 rating. The scene has yet to appear in any of the released versions of the film.

Really liked this film when i saw it 17 years ago or whatever.

Jada Pinkett was nice to look at as a bonus.

Re: Menace II Society Diector's Cut

Probably the most serious of the 90s gangsta rap type movies

yeah, this an Dead Presidents are two of my favorite films from the 90s. I've heard of that riot scene, would definitely be interesting to see.

Now release Dead Presidents anamorphic.

I haven't watched my bluray of the movie yet but I know that on the Criterion laserdisc, one of the brothers talks about the scenes that were trimmed at the request of the MPAA, but of course they are pretty obvious what those scene are.

I still need to pick this D-Cut up. Had a few friends who were "bangin" back then and the violence in this sure made them flinch.

She seemed taller back then. But that's probably because there was no Will Smith at the time to constantly tower over her.

Re: Menace II Society Diector's Cut

Just bought the "director's cut". Have not watched yet, but was disappointed to learn from another website that there is only about 30 seconds of additional footage.

Seems like a gip. Not sure why they don't include the prison riot scenes that have never been seen.

The 30-seconds of extra footage are all violence related. Entry/exit wounds and blood splatter. It was released like that on LD from Criterion years ago and now the Blu-ray. It's no gip.

And it's interesting to see how this version was NC-17 back in the day and cut to an R, and now the uncensored version is rated R.
