I saw a movie back in the late 90s on TV. It was about this group of people who get locked in a church and all this crazy stuff starts to happen. At one point the priest tells them the secret of the church and how the anti-Christ is contained downstairs in the basement.

It turns out the anti-Christ is this big vat of slime. One of the people in the group are looking at it for too long and the vat springs a leak or intentionally sprays the dude. He becomes possessed and starts to kill people.

They also look at a video from the not too distant future. I don't remember how, but it shows a shadowy individual leaving from the front of the church doors before it gets fuzzy.'

I know my description is all over the place but if anyone can help me identify the movie I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes it was.

I had no idea it was made by John Carpenter or that DVD that I keep browsing by at BestBuy was this movie.

I thought it was a little weird how the Anti-Christ was like the ooze container from TMNT but just bigger, but the story and atmosphere was crazy.

Is this the same director that made The Thing and In the Mouth of Madness?

Edit: yes he is.

Wow. I need to buy all three of these on DVD. I had the last one but my friend gave it back to me with all kinds of scratches and food on it.
